3rd Allens Birth Day Thrashing pease Went Down to Charlies took Dinner got some nuts Charlie came up with me hurted the instep of my Foot splitting a stick of stove Wood A Strange dog came about Dark
4th Charlie Went home Gave him some pease some matches stuff for his hens 1/2 Bushel of Potatoes some poison old pair of mits Fanning pease 3 Bushels Drew some Drags Mary Fell out of the Bed
5th Bushing the Road at the Upper Point to Hamiltons very crooked with so many air holes
6th crofsed to Renshaws got New Years from Mr Powell Donald McDonald and I crofsed to Mr Harpers a Treat gave Ranald Angus a/7 1/2 for a Raffle of Window sashes Bought of Mr Harper 3/4 of Calico -/7 1/2 1 lb candles /10 2 yds of shirting 2/6 Went to Mr David Summers a Treat 1/- paid this David went to cure Long Angus's child her Palate was Down Dave has a charm for that Heard of Dan Going to Toronto

9th Thrashed 3 Floors of wheat 7 Bushell Fanned this is the First of Thrashing of Wheat Francis Laplante here for Semos spear gave it to him all the Bosells Fishing EEls Turned Warmer seen cutters going on the ice and a Load of Hay as is supposed the cutter Turned Back 2 times to Summers Put Straw in the strawtick to Day

22nd Crofsed to Francis Island turned Back was going to Semos
23 Fine Day Drawing Wood
24th Went with 3 Bushels B Wheat to Mrs Morris Bought of Mr Harper 2 lbs Butter 2/- Treat -/7 1/2 Bottle Whiskey -/10 1/2 25 Semo came to Thrash at the Wheat the Horse Dead
26th Fanning Wheat 4 Bushels Thrashed White Oats 4 Bushels commenced Black Oats Went to the store 1 1/2 Pease 3 1/2 Pints High Wines 14 lb Beef

31st Went to Mr Harpers to 2 Bushels & some lbs over 80 odd lbs of Pease 25 lbs Beef 1/2 lb Tea a Treat -/7 1/2 Took Thomas Munroe up Home 1/3 for the Roseboroug Church Gave Mr Harper 5/- cash for to get me a Paper
1st February Went as far as Renshaws with Lis Went to Fish EEls with Henery Antwine to Christee Got 60 20 a peice

21st Went to Bosells for Lasheys spear cut 4 holes no eels Made Molasses out of the 4 Pails of sap a Great Feast for Gordon Tapt 30 Trees this Evening Gathered 2 pails of sap not running well seen 2 men crofsing Summers's Road a Foot cows a Picking out now on or about these Days the Equinoxial Gales are Sun crofsing the Line
22nd Livinia Birth Day got 4 EEls
23rd Snowing Brought home 3 pails of sap Made the First Sugar about 1 lb cows wanting to go to the Bush Robins came on the 22nd went to the head of the Island water Raising in the Marsh seen 3 Men going to Christees eel Fishers Lots of snow Birds Hens commenced to Lay some of them but the Dog made Free in taking them
24th A Fortunate Day But as Fortunate as it is I spilled a 1/2 Barrel of Sap taking it home cut 3 holes for EEls got 4 swallows came Gathered 22 pails of sap Besides what I spilled
25th a Man here from the Grand River he Lives in Bombays shantyman I suppose ice opened Between here and Francis Island Molly had her calf this Evening First Boiling of sap in the Bush to Day Gathered 14 Pails to Day Tapped 10 Trees thats 36 pails I have Gathered now
Sunday 26th Gathered 15 pails Gordon & Mary Livinia & myself Went to the Bush Boiled 2 pails while there No Eggs yet Took home some Mollasses
27th Gathered 30 Pails to Day Boiling all in the Bush took home what we Boiled

1st of April all Fools Day Lashey here for his Spear water coming in the cellar Fixing the Potatoes put 8 Bushels in the Box pout out 10 pails of Water sugared Twice Went to the West end of the Island Killed a snake and put him in the Fire Gathered 8 Pails to Day Tapt a Birch Tree for Vinegar ice Going from before the Door hens commenced to Lay only 1 of them the Mare out Weaned the calf yesterday Hay all Done on the East side Began 1/2 of the other side of the Hay

3rd Gathered 9 Pails to Day Tapt some more trees took home 8 pails to Boil in the house today Seen BumbleBees or Humble Bees whatever you choose to call them 2 Indians Fishing EEls me Fishing got 3 put a pole in my spear put out the Gaberna canoe Fired a shot at a Rat and did not Get him ice Before the Door yet
4th 5 pails Gathered to Day Went Down to the Barn above the Kit Kit Just as I got there the Wind raised

6th a Fortunate Day high Wind 4 Indians came up from Charlies Gathered 11 Pails of sap & Rain together Boiling the Birch sap at the end of the house for vinegar Killed 7 snakes or 8 set 2 Traps for Mink found a cedar stick only 3 hens Laying yet of the 16 Pat at Charlies

8th Boiling vinegar sap took home all the things from the Bush
9th Sunday 3 years Married to Day Palm Sunday to Day Pat and Charlie here
10th Mr Powell here him and I to Charlies took 1/2 Bushel of Potatoes to Charlie Lent Pat the most noted Pirates, Shipwrecks & Disasters at sea and the Hospital Book Put 5 Gallons and 1 Quart on the Jar to Day took a Pail of Birch sap home for Charlie. Fixing of Renshaws account
11th Went to Renshaws Gave what he owed me L27..7..2 Besides there was 70 lb of Barley and 2 1/2 of Potatoes I gave him in place of me owing him 26 Dollars and 26 cents he owes me a Balance of Something I did not want to see what it was as I was not well pleased at his Boarish Look Went to Mr Harpers Pat and Charlie there Gave Charlie the eel oil to Fetch to Powell had 2 Treats at Mr Harpers Took Dinner at Thomas Munroes wrote a Letter for Thomas A Summers Bought out Rolland Taking stack Down Got the Clevis Charlie left his shirt to Make.

Went to Fish EEls the wind came fro the West I came up as far as the Sturgeon Island had to Wheel round and got Rofs Island the swells running in and over my canoe stopt all Day on Rofs Island the Wind and Water on the River was like Drifting of snow and smoke stopt on the Island all night very cold
13th calling for Charlie My canoe all split with the Lashing of the Waves Charlie came for me stopt at Charlies till Friday 14th Good Friday when the Wind Lowered and him and Pat came home with me used me well Lent Charlie an axe Gave Charlie his shirt Bills roof of his Barn Blowed off Part of it there must Bean a Great Destruction with this wind
15th Making Fence in the Lane Found a Bottle that Charlie Rose and Dan McDougall had Left in the Feild seen Renshaws Boat sailing up from the Warf Went Through to see the Damage the Wind had done and it tore Down trees set Fire to the marsh May up in the Bay
16th Sunday Easter Sundy a Great Frolic of Eggs to Day
17th Went for the Horses to head of the Island got a Rat first setting of Traps Last night Hard Frost and ice Last night very hard Drew some stones to the Bank put Manure in the canoe for plants drew the Big Canoe up to the Door set 4 Traps in the Front Marsh

24th Lashey came Late night to chop him and I to Renshaws & Harpers Bought of Mr Harper Flour 5/- I Forgot how many Pounds 1/2 lb Tea 1/10 1/2 1/2 lb Saleratus -/4 Heard Morway Departed heard that Abraham was poorly Ploughed a Little Before the Door
25th Livinia & Lashey and Mary went to Salmon River Abraham Departed this Life Gordon and I to Fish EEls got 23 Gordon got Kind of Sea sick with the Rocking of the canoe a very fine Day Salaberry came up to night 1st Rafts went Down
26th The Emprefs came up & went Down stopt all night at Lancaster Salaberry into Salmin River St Helen went Down Livinia Mary & Lashey came home Gordon Pat & Charlie and I to Mr Harpers for the first time Gordon went to the store or Front
27th Planted Potatoes Before the Door Finished ploughing the Garden Passport went Down 2 Rows of all sorts early ones niggertoes Blue Merseys or whatever you call them and my Little Blue noses {potatoes}

29th Fishing EEls Before the Dorr got a Great Blow of Wind for a Little While Raining the Emprefs up First this Morning Before the Salaberry Propellers going Down Tug went Down Barge sailed into Salmon River
Sunday 30th Our nannie a Lamb the Rumpling white hen commenced to Hatch 13 Eggs under her Molly and the Batchelor sparking a Good many Trees and Limbs Down with yesterdays storm Charlie and Pat to the squaw Island for eggs 2 Rafts going down
1st of May Emprefs went Down took in 6 eggs this morning East Wind Cold Fixing the Fence on Pitt Point Went to Fish EEls got 30 Fine 3 Masted Vessel went Down in Tow of the America 5 men here Looking for a Dram of Timber Ploughed a Ridge at Dead Butternut Tree
2nd Charlie & Pat came Went to Salmon River Brought 28 lb iron 1/2 12 lb Rags 36 cents 1 1/2 Ashes 1/3 which comes to 4/2 1/2 paid an old account of 40 odd cents all clear up to this Date (Bought on credit Meal 30 cents 1/2 lb crackers 7 cents this is charge to me) got 1 or 2 fathom of Rope 1/2 lb candles -/4 Bought the shot paid this 2 papers of Onion and 1 paper of Beets 1 of Carrots paid all this Gave the old Lady a Bag of Ashes and Bag of Potatoes Brought home the Pot Bought of P Buchanan 1 Quart 1/2 Pint of Whiskey 2 Tin Dishes 1 Goopey Matches Bought of Baker 1 Bar of Soap 20 cents paid this Returned the Bottle Gave Charlie some Potatoes EEls pail sap 1 bottle of Vinegar sweet Pat Left his shirts to wahs Gave Pat some oil Got 2 French almanacks at Bakers James Hopkins poorly, planted the Tobacco

11th Ploughing Raining went to Fish EEls got 2 Wind Raised as usual Fixing the Brush Fence some planted Corn before the old House about 80 Hills of Yellow corn sweet corn or sugar Corn about 40 hills took 2 currant Bushes on the 10th
12th Went for a Plant at the head of the Island ploughed some Tom Tried the Perch to Bite got none Finished Reading Paul Clifford Fixing a Whippletree snow on the Mountains 3 Propperllors after one another the St Helene chasing the Huron My Horses very slow to work they want a Driver none too Fat Plenty Good Hay not any oats
13th got 2 eels in the Mud Tom and I Dan came Blistered his hands not Being accustomed to Row

20th a Fortunate Day came to Hopkins a Job Pare and me putting out the canoe sailed Home Put in Gray one of the Hens Froze put straw over the Potatoes in the cellar no snow on the Ground High Wind east to night Blowed Wicked fixed stones in the canoe after night but the Wind being so high Throwed her on shore Lost my 2 oars stearn seat

22nd a Fortunate Day ice making very well took the Canoe to the Head of the Island Pat and I anchor ice making very well Froze acrofs to the Little Island North Side
23rd cold ice made on the Rush Bed to the Kitt Kitt Island Killed the Bull put 2 shots in But the first shot Killed him without a Groan Left the meat int he Barn till we could cut it up very cold Work a Fortunate Day
24th Sunday Christmas eve took Gray to the Head of the Island to Draw up the canoe Thawing to Day snowing Blowing ice all gone away mostly
