11th Went home with Charlie got some nuts & 1/2 Dozen of Onions from him Pat and Mr Robinson here from Williamstown had a Bottle Took Dinner took his things and his Jar all we had here Stormy Day Raining snowing East Wind Livinia went for the first time to milk Bosey since the 8th January

12th The Dance in celebration of St Valentines at Mr David Summers as it come the first of Lent they have it on the 12th Drawing Fire Wood stormy evening Snow and Wind

13th Drew a Load of Wood Went to see if there was a letter in the P Office none commenced another peice of the Hay on the mow cut a Waterhole

14th St Valentines Day and Ash Wednesday Went with the Hide to Mr Streeter Left it at Mrs Morris's for him to get Bought of Mr Streeter 1 pair of Boots 4 Dollars Left my other to get Mended Jim Hopkins working at Mr Phillips wharf stormy some chopping Stove Wood Blowing hard

28th Last Day of the Month Went to Mr Harpers Bought 2 Dollars worth of Flour To 1 lb of French Tobacco for Lashey Andrew John Summers and he is starting for Cariboo Got a Bad fall on the ice opposite Kenneths hurted my arm

1st of March St Davids Day The Festival of the Welsh Lashey chopping I splitting 3 Logs Looking at Trees Lashey for his sleigh and Traps Raining Blowing

2nd Lashey Fishing in the Bay got none Wet in the forenoon. Fine Day HughAnn and John Angus Came me in the Bush Drew some for Troughfs cut them yesterday

10th made a few Troughs Lashey done chopping at A Bakers took over the Barrel from Mr Harpers 1 Dozen of Herring 1/3 3 lbs of Pork for himself and some onions about 1 Gallon of Mollasses in the Barrel 1 Quart Mr Harper put in

12th on this Day of the month McMaster first came to the Island I went to Mrs Morris's her at Bills

13th Went for the Pot Mrs Morris got it went Down for Charlie Brout him to Harpers sent him home a Great deal of Travelling on the ice Bought of Mr Harper 1/2 lb Soda Mrs Baker a Bee drawing Wood

14th Drawing Wood Making spoils Filling the Banch with water at the River the calve Dead Raining

15th Skining the calf Bill here going to the Depot Tom Davis came

16th Tom Went of Turned Back with the Water on the ice crofsed to Frashers Drawing Wood cut Down a tree for Troughs Drew home 4 Logs of them

26th Semo here in the Morning his Boy came in the evening an order on Mr Harper for 4 lbs of Pork

27th Senio here to tell me Mr Harper would not Give him any on the Order Lashey crofsed for Mr Harpers Big {cut off} Drawing wood to the sugar camp

28th commenced feeding hay of the Stable loft to the cattle Tapt 2 trees to Day 3 yesterday not running well took home about 1/2 Gallon of Sap for a Drink set a Trap for the crows. Made Troughs to Day cut the Beef Head 2 Teams came up from Lancaster went up before the Door followed my {cut off}

1st of April all Fools Day Lashey {cut off} sap not Running Easter Sunday Sun Doesn't Dance the sign of a hard year

3rd Began to Boil Boiled 9 Pails about 7 lbs of sugar made for the first Gathered 20 Pails to Day Tapt 16 Trees more made 3 Troughs Lashey sick Horses crofsed Summers Road to Day a Feast for Gordon of Sugar

4th Gave Lashey an order on Mr Harper for 7/6 in Goods Lashey went off Boiling about 25 Pails to Day Gordon in the Bush with me Black Ducks came Gathered 4 pails of sap not running to Day very well Cranes came all the Feathered inhabitants of the air came swallows Robins, Pheabe or Pewit as some calls them shooting commenced

5th Gordon and I Gathering and Boiling in the Bush Tried for EEls got 1

6th a Fortunate Day Boiling 10 Pails took it home to Sugar of with what I Boiled yesterday water raising near shore Ice opened at Francis Island sap not Running to Day Gathered 1 1/2 pails wild Gees Plenty

Sunday 8th Low Sunday Running Gathered a 2 Barrels

9th 4 years Married to Day, Boiling on the Bush about 40 Pails took it home to sugar off 36 lbs Gathering and Boiling Loons came Seen a Boat crofsing to Hopkins Livinia Gordon Mary and the Baby all came to the Bush Boiled about 40 Pails to Day Keeping the cows and sheep in they make a Destruction in the Bush water very low along the shore

11th Gathering and Boiling some took home to Sugar off

12th not running much seen 2 canoes fishing eels at the Hay Island Lots of Ice going Down shot at a Rat Did not get him the Frog Music commenced

13th Gordon and I to the head of the Island the cows Playing the Devil in the Bush knocked out all the spoils went to every tree me very very sick Seen a canoe with 3 going to Charlies stopt all night Found a tennet that the wind must have Blown from shore

14th Gathered 8 pails of Sap cleaning the cellar and up stairs put the sofa up stairs some of the Hens commencing to Lay

Lashey came from John Camerons making sugar there very sick after a spree yesterday sap running Gathering 12 pails of sap

16th Boiling in the Bush Gordon and I sugared off at night 2 cakes about or over 20 lbs sugar Lashey went off Lent him a Bag

18th our Duncans Birth Day Made about 3 Gallons of Mollasses Let out the Little Ram Johnstons Light Lit on Cherry Island Gathered 12 pails and Lost 6 pails as it Leaked out of one of the Barrels

19th Boiling about 6 pails it is getting sour made molasses of it it will do for vinegar shot at 2 Rats did not get them Let out the Big Ram and the cows all went to the Bush a Havoc on the spoils and the Troughs Gathered 3 Pails for vinegar an left it in the Pot not many canoes or crafts on the water

Spring 20th a Lamb for the first one of the season sheep it out in the Raining time Thunder to night for the first east wind Lashey came at night staving

21st Lashey crofsed I Put out our canoe for the first time this spring 2 more Lambs the sheep with the Black spoton, our nannie a Lamb its gone too no Luck with Lambs as yet

22nd Sunday and I to Fish eels got 32 to Day

23rd St Georges The Festival of the English seen Charlie crofsing to Ross Island Made the Ley or Li for the soap set the Pot a very a very stormy windy wet day east Wind water Raised some One of the Big soft maples of the 2 Blew down with the wind on the Flat Back of the Barn Frost and ice Last night ice going Down yet

24th Lashey went to Hunt Raining

25th St Ma{cut off} Day very unwell went to Head of the Island

26th Making the soap cold Day Sap Running took some for vinegar tapt some trees

27th took hom 2 Gallons of sap for vinegar Lashey came set my traps no Rats shot a Duck very very sick all Mr White coming to the Lighthouse

Sunday 29th, Charlie here, the Steamer Kingston went down lots of ice going down

30th Last day of April me very unwell Charlie here went home, 1 of the life boats went down and 2 Propellers, Dug a peice of ground behind the shed Lashey went fishing got 1 cat fish set 5 Traps tonight. The taking out at the Scow Light house today and Lit up Mr Hills light lit for the first time.

1st of May and fine day, Livinia and the baby Lashey went to Salmon River , Mrs. Morris came Down with Gordon and Mary and I all alone planted the tobacco seed and cabbage seed behind the shed, got a duck and a Rat setting fire on the Grove and the back Marsh Feast for Gordon and Mary today at sugar

2nd Lashey and me splitting rails sap running in ice going down three, more Lambs all dead

3rd very unwell, got a duck in the trap

th America went and one of her barges broke away from her near the Lighthouse, piling some of the troughs in the bush, Lashey went to Mr.Harpers, sent an order with him for 1/2 lb tea, 2/6 {cut off} powder, paper pins , 1 bottle of Radways 1/3 6 bunches matches - /3 1/2 Tobacco 1/ about 6/3 worth) Emmanuel here

5th Lashey making a sturgeon pen set his line, Grey cost the whippletree and trace chain and part of the big chain 2 lambs yesterday 1 to day the Black sheep

6th George Morriss here the old lady went home with him, i left home the pot a bottle of molasses bottle of vinegar a Vat of ashes 4 lbs sugar for the use of her pots the Emrefs into Lancaster from Below.

15th George Began to Plough Down on the ground cutting some of the Brush Went with Lashey Line wind high Livinia sowed onions Lashey Getting Sturgeon a Going and Towing of them commenced to Rain to night took the most of the Wool of our Little sheep as it is to her not very well to Day James Hopkins here for the scow First Trip up for the SalaBerry Lashey Preparing his Fish for Montreal Jim Hopkins taking cattle to A{illegible} Island

Lashey went to Montreal Harrowing and Planting Potatoes, Before the door about 4 bushels of seeds of potatoes caught 2 sturgeon

18th cut about 4 Bushels of seeds of Potatoes Butchered a Sturgeon went to the Head of the Island, Planted a bed of beets some tomataoes some flowers the steamer Bursted her Boiler at Montreal 1


19th Lashey from Montreal cutting brush at the Plumtrees got 7 sturgeon since Lashey went off Highlander towing here now Making my sail found a raft oar drew it a peice on shore George went off and Mary Ann Bone gave them my canoe and 2 paddles

20th Whit Sunday east wind

21st began to shear 4 of the sheep and part of another

22nd sheared 2 of the sheep very cold keeping in the sheep with the cold, the Colt and the mare very Bad with ticks look her out of the mudhole

23rd found the Colt very full of ticks Lashey and me taking them of Harrowing above the house for sorne some grains of snow fell seen a steamer coming at of Salmon River very unwell today,

24th planted 5 quarts of corn it was soaked well when I planted it George wind, bound on a Alexis Island came at night Queens Birthday fired 8 or 10 volleys took 4 bushes of potatoes for {torn off}, 1 bushel of wheat the Harrow and Harnefs

25th sowed bushels of wheat fixing the colt set Lasheys line Charlie came up look some seeds different kinds Charlie and I to Williamstown took out 5lb of sugar 1 bottle of syrup, i cake to granny 1 to each of Ellens Girls 1 to Ellens 3 EEls Georges colt dead went to see Pat John Angus got hurted the Queens Birth day seen Johns Likeness

26th came home slept at Lancaster sent Charlie for onions got a quart of potatoes onions 1lb a quart seen John Dunlop took breakfast on Susy's Island sowed a pail full of wheat I had in the house alongside Georges wheat sowed George's pease 1 bushel sowed 2 bushels of my pease George measured them Mr. Laduke here took breakfast gave Livina Lashey went away with Laduke Betsy Bone came sheared the Big Rarn.

28th Sheared the 2 sheep with the Lambs George came Lashey crofsed this evening

31st Corpus Christie planted 2 Bushels of our seed ends of the Potatoes Lashey and me Luke Brown and Betsy came to Let George know about the scow George Crofsed Luke got a Large Sturgeon from Lashey Fixing sticks aroudn from Butternut tree to the Gate planted some Pumpkins among the Potatoes
