August 1899

{12 cont.} is to be buried here today. There was an accident happened on the C.A. R.R August 9th at St Polacarp in which seven persons were killed All scalded
13 " It was 12.30 when we got from Hamiltons Island Our party arrived at the Island at 9:30, we were through with tea about six. Then went on board a small steamer called The Jubilee, Captain and owner, Royes, sailed west called at St. Regis. viewed the exterior of the church. Then to Cornwall stopped at the park A few minutes all our party, got off but Mifs Cainerser, myself & Jimie Brown then we steamed to the lock at one of the mills and took on some cargo, returned in 30 minutes for the rest of the party: And arrived at Hamiltons Island at 10:30. We spent a very pleasant afternoon & evening. Very fine day. Rev Mr. Leitch of Stratford preached in the Morning, in St Andrews, most of Mr. McDonald's people were there. he is taking his holy days

17. Another fine day. Got 5 lbs of stew on Tuesday from Martintown Butcher.

And on Tuesday, I got honey 90. John & Eve McDonald were to tea on that day.

Lizzie & Marion went to see Mary McIntyre and called on Florence Ross, Rodrick paid 2.25 for rent, Pa sold Marriage license to Young Eagles on Monday to marry an Empy girl. To 3 3/4 butter at 20 cts

18 {cont.} Sugar 25, rice 25, 1 lb tea 30, Pa bot 4 lb steak from Martintown butcher 40 cts. Jimie got his wheel yesterday, and left today for Alexandria Pa is not well he got a bottle of medicine from Mowet yesterday, 50 80 40 50
19. Fine hot day, Mercury up to 87
20 Another hot day. The roads are very dusty
21. Looks like rain. Given is putting his oats. To 3 lbs washing, soda 10. pins 6. 2 1/2 yds print 23 cts. Pa is giving Prue notice to quit the house 16

25 Fine day looks like settled weather. Now 9.45 P.M. All our young folk went to lawn social at Hugh Fraser 2d Con. To 1½ lb sausage 15, 2 lbs steak 20. Pa settled with Prue 35
26 Fine day. There is a pic nic at Hamilton Island. Birdie, Marion & Daisy drove D.Sadlers horse Murdy and B.L. our horse. Jimie took a wheel, Jimie Brown and Lizzie remained at home, To 1 gall coal oil 18 cts, 1 lamp chimney 1 .14 lb butter 41at McCrimmons & sugar 25sts - 66 tick 23
27. Fine day. I was not in church. Pa is not well. F. Robertson called to see Pa, Susie Foulton & Lilly Snaw called. D.B. McLennan & Charlotte were here.
28. Very fine day. Lizzie had a letter from Uncle S. he will not be down this Fall. Murdy Paid the butter and sugar at McCrimmons and bot 100 of flour 2.66
29 Another hot day. Called at , M Bohomours, got a big bunch of rhubarb. To stew 21 cts, 10 sugar 50. 71
