March 1901

1 Friday. March came in as a lamb, but cold one. {Bother?} in the inhabitants
2. Jimie & Murdy went with some others to take up the artists for the concert

To1 gall coal oil. 25. 3 3/4 cod fish tick Paid

Mrs Jim Burtin came while we were at supper. she and Jim are going to the consert. Pa is ready to go
3 Burtin and wife remained all night with us and went to the S. Branch after preaching. we had an excellent temperance Lesson from Mr Givin from Matt. 18 - 7. The consert last night was good Mifs Jessie McLaughlin is splendid very good looking. Mr McGregor is to sing at prayer meeting tonight Mercury was 12 below at 7.A.M. Birdie goes to the Glen from prayer Meeting
4 Turned soft last night. Made a big washing. To 100 of flour 2.15 tick Paid
5 Baked in oven. And feel sick
18 Two weeks tomorrow since I wrote anything. I was in bed 10 days with Grip We had McKillop from the 8th until the 12th, he had an entertainment on the night of the 11th. Got more codfish at McCrimmons. today Rev. D.D. came and was here to dinner. Got 2 cans salmon 1 lb tea J.A's 25 cts sugar, Paid last week got 5 lbs steak. The boys drew 3 loads of wood today. The weather is keeping cold, roads good for 18th March, Sunday the 10th there was heavy rain which froze as it fell and all the trees were heavily coated with ice thne there was high wind which broke the trees, ours around the house are ruined. The fine maple south of our bedroom has lost more than 3/4 of its limbs

18 {cont.} The sugar bushes are, they say useless for some time
19 Jimies birthday. The boys drew the last of the wood 7 loads. Far took the head out of the molasses punchon {puncheon}, we got at Willies for 1.50., And got three pails of almost sugar about 40 lbs
20 Jimie and Marion are off to Lancaster to the dentist, have Mrs Polack washing 1/2 day they are in our Game Ground house. came on 10th.
21 Rained all last night. Jimie is putting out manure. To 1 big cod fish yestereday, tick Paid Uncle Donald brought a bag of potatoes
22 Blustering day. Rev Mr A McGillivrary of Toronto gave a lecture in St Hall last night on Forestry a goodly attendance.
23. Marion and Jimie went to Lancaster to dentist she got a tooth pulled, And some filling. D. H McDonald paid $500 for rent
24 A large congregation. Birdied and Jimie went to D. Roys in afternoon.
25 Jimie and Marion went to Apple Hill, she will remain for a Couple of weeks Far went in Afternoon to F. H McLennan's
26. Rain all day. The roads are very soft
27 Turned cold. our cellar has a good lot of water, in the Kitchen {most?}
28. Pa is not Keeping very well
29. Mrs Roderick 1/2 day. Got provender bags Keeps cold. light snow since Wednesday
30 Jimie drove to Cornwall all today. To 2 1/2 lb steak 25 cts. Tonic for Pa 20
31 Soft day. I was not in church. Jimie came home. Got $10 from D.B. McL. for Pa.
