Sun. 22nd. Sarah & I went to John St Church with N.G. & Emma in A.M. -- We all went down to see the Blandina in afternoon. Afraid of falling through the wharf as we tried to get to her. {?} on bridges over R.R. track for Jumbo's train. After tea Jennie & us three went to Centenary Church. Heard lovely music. Went to Wallace's & stayed all night. Eva Wilkinson (Sarah's niece) there also on a visit.
Mon. July 23rd. Barnum's Circus in Hamilton. Went down to James St. to see procession after breakfast. Met E.M. & Dan Bray who had driven the girls up to see circus. After the procession we all went to the grounds but circus not commenced so we entered a side show - saw a man without legs but had feet - another without arms or hands. a white silky haired bushy headed young man who could imitate birds & animals, two women with hair six feet long, four giant brothers, a masculine woman with bearded face, alos a beautiful Circassian woman (Sarah bot her photo) Ziela Zeleak age 19 yr.
