JUNE THURSDAY 8 1876
Go to Tannery at 8. Rec'd from T.P. & Co. 1 Bbl Oil 43 Galls @ 70 cts $3010, going to return the last Bbl they said it being bad. it contains 47½ {Schs?} at 80 cts = {blank} Pay H Chrysler $700 for Porter & take his Rx. Porter lends the money out of his pay with me to give Chrysler. Pay John Canochan $2700 bal in full due him. S Hindle comes in for pay. dont pay him.
A D Fullmer slanders myself & my Mother in {GAClements?} Store today in presence of Wm Purcell & Jarrd Stocking. He told them my Mother Perjured herself & told lies in the Witness Box & swore to whatever I told her to swear to, that I also perjured myself & he was going for me. etc.
JUNE FRIDAY 9 1876
Go to Tannery at 8½. J Stocking stops me & tells me what A.D. Fullmer said about myself & mother in GAClements Book store yesterday. Wm Purcell tells me the same thing. ( See other page June 8th.) Robt Jacobs tells me Fullmer was trying to entice him to leave my Employment & go with him to Port Perry.
Telegraph TP&Co to send more Hides. quite out. Pat Joe Carrs $500 on a/c of $15 due him for Gardening at Mothers. Give Wife $800 this a.m. to pay Soph {Sophia} as wages on 15th
