AUGUST WEDNESDAY 23 1876

Go to Tannery at 8. Find C Hughs under influence of Liquor. Take him up in office. He then tells me John McMillan has been giving him Whiskey & Ginger Wine all along & coaxing him to drink. He also got Hughs to let him have fleshings for his Pigs etc. Hughs wants me to tell Follett, & he Hughs will testify against McMillan.

AUGUST THURSDAY 24 1876

Go to Tannery at 8. Hughs all right Fannie Thompson, Ada, Wife, Baby & nurse go to Toronto on Boat. Scadding meets us at Boat. Go in Carriage to Scaddings. After dinner Ed & I go down town. I call & see Parsons at Store. Go to Horticultural Gardens at 630. Mrs. Rogers goes with us. Germania Band of Buffalo give Concert.
