Velma is the main author of this long run of diaries.  Her mother begins the diary but then dies in 1932.  Velma remains single and looks after her father on the farm until his death in 1951.  She is a very capable woman.  She notes her father’s work and her own cooking, sewing and social life.  She plays the violin and piano at local events.  She is the first vice-president and founding member of the Badenoch Women's Institute and its president in 1936-37. She sells the farm after her father dies.
