Oct. 16th 1908 fine

w.Batty at Harveys Thrashing I did chores and wrote to Hon.W.Cliford, J.D. McGregor, Geo Patterson & his {illegible}. H.W. Watkins Geo Rya n Chas Ries. rec $22.50 from Jas Smith for apples sent $30.00. to D.Douglas & Sons Mitchell Ont.

Sat 17th fine. We picked apples cleaned box stalls. Finished apples I went to town drew on Geo Patterson Brandon for $601.40 and on Hon. W. Clifford for $200.00. I bgt {bought} groceries.

Sunday 18th fine. Mary E. Bessie & I went to Church & baby J & {illegible} to S.S. Col. Connectional funds $5.00 13 ct. Mary J. Jamie & M.E. & I went to Church in evening {written between lines - x (illegible) keepsake had a call by Lord (illegible)} heard Rev {illegible} on The Model Daughter & Sister. I was very good.

Monday 19th fine & cool. I took 8 bgs cider apples to mill got 25 gal cider and pd 50c shipped Raw Lamb to Geo L. {illegible} Valparaise Ind. bgt 2 {brl - barrels?} of cement at $2.10 at Penfolds then went to mill in afternoon pd express on McGregors hogs 3.00 Ryn's $1.35 & mountain Ram 1.00 Pd for chopping 8 bgs. 40c.

Tueaday 20th Oct /08. W.B. hauled engine wood & I want to town in morning took apples in to be packed for Mr Walsh then met mother. & Norman. I pd for barrel. 25¢. then. we cleaned out coal Cellar & prepared to cement the floor

Wensday. 21st Fine. W.B. & I put cement floor in Coal Cellar. and did chores Century Place Matilda had cow calf by E-P. Ringleader 3rd.

Thursday 22nd Fine. we fixed mangels went for Beef. Pd for killing $2{^25} and topped turnips in Afternoon

Friday 23rd Fine. we topped turnips in morning and harrowed out & made road in afternoon hauled 1 load

Saturday 24th Oct. we chored around barn & got things into shape for hauling in turnips. & we put a few harrowed out turnips into rows, got two bags lime 75¢

Sunday 25th Oct. Mary J. Baby. Mary & I want to Church in morning col 50¢ Children & I to S. S. in Afternoon

Monday 26th Oct morning. Dr vated in morning & went to worked at Turnips rest of the day had two of Walker boy got in 16 loads

Tuesday 27th Oct. 1908. fine. 12 hrs hauled turnips & finished harrowing them out. had Walkers boys helping and I went to Henlock Young's Funeral. he was killed by his Traction Engine.

Wensday 28th wet. 2 hr hauled two {lbs?} turnips in morning and. chored rest of the day. put lime on cow stands & under the plants I waked hands to thrashing. got hair cut. 20¢ horse shod. 75. Groceries $1{^45}. ordered 1000 sheets for entry of Ruffle sheep.

Thursday 29th fair. We finished turnips today 14 we hauled 12 loads. had Walkers boys helping E.P. Rosebud 7th aborted bull.

Friday 30th fair. We Thrashed today had 1 man from Flick. Ford. Harvey, Telford, Friendship Barber & Mc Dougall. we finished at 4 P.M.

Saturday 31st fair & cool. I went to mill. with 15 bags Chop 12 0.3 per, Pd. I also pd account in full 75¢. and bot barley chop $5.30 Willie was at Fords Thrashing in morning & Barbers in Afternoon

Sunday Nov 1/08. fair & cool. Mary J. Bessie, and {I?} went to Church in Morning and Children & I to S.S.Col 50¢. S.S.C. $5.0

Monday 2nd fine. W.B. at Barbers & Mc Dougalls Thrashing. I got Cattle from Dins four over 1 year & 1 calf. they have been there since. June 23rd being 4 months & 1 week $17{^00} 4 head. and two heifers were there 3 months & 1 week $6{^25}

Colts went on. 19th May.

Sheep went on May 9th

{crossed over word} got them back 5. on Oct 10th I took five heifers to J. Henderson to run on rape.

Tuesday. 3rd fair. We got in Cabbage & Carrots 1 ld Cabbage. 3 Carrots Went to Concert in Evening

Wensday 4th fine. We chored and I went to the Shorthorn Sale in afternoon. prices did not rule high I pd J. Flick $1 50 for attending Friendships Thrashing. I pd $178 24 to J.R. Bonnan Charges on checks .45

Thursday. 5th cool & windy. W.B. & I chored & covered turnip pit. Put Ram with ewes. the "Imp Shearling."

Friday. Nov 6th fine. we chored & W.B. finished manuring garden & started plowing I. went to Henderson for their ewes to breed to ram and got the withers from Geo Henderson. 3 weighed 340 lbs got ewe from J Henderson /28 {lbs?}

Sat 7th fine.

Friday 6th fine. we fixed gates in morning & plowed generally.

Mary E. Junie. Ruth & I went to church, and children {&} I to S.S. Col. for Poor 40¢ Gen {Col}. 50.

Mon 9th fine. Will & I settled up. to date. & W owes me $5{^65} & I {re?} meat & feed for {cow} & hens. Two barrels of apples {wt} pd for $3.00

Tuesday 10th fine. Will started again this morning and plowed sod. W. Batty & I did chores and showed cattle to Proff Day & students in afternoon

Wensday 11th dull & snowy. I went to Oil City to inspect N Casenden's cattle. got there about dark. & looked over a few of them. and finished in morning Expenses. ticket 6.20, 40, 60, dinner 50 Busness 10¢

Thursday 12th Cold & Snow. I started on early train. & got to London for noon. had dinner with Mr Williams then went to Stratford & to Seaforth. Due to Seaforth $1{^25} livery $1{^00}, Pruto 05. I spent a pleasant evening with Mr Mc Intosh.

Friday 13th fine. I took Early train and got home about. 11 A.M. and then prepared to plow butched a sheep and then plowed till evening

Saturday 14th Snowy. Will & I plowed sod W Batty in afternoon. J. Henderson Called & I pd him for his lambs $46{^25}, I also pd. Mr Hall for Fruit trees $1{^40} pd Junie & mary. 50¢ each for keeping stockings darned.

Sunday 15th Sunny. M.J. Jennie. Bessie & I went to Church in morning. and Children & I to S.S. Col. 50¢ 05. 03.

Monday 16th Stormy. Both men plowed and I Chored and went up to Tom's and fixed Furnace front. built brick work

Tuesday 17th Nov /08. Will trimmed sheep in morning W Batty & I went to Henderson for Cattle and took them up to Tom’s and five heifers to be fed for $4 per month each & to be kept in as good shape as last year. Bred E.P. Pride to E.P. Ringleader, 3rd. We killed old nell in afternoon, and skinned her & put her meat away for hens for winter.

Wensday 18th fair & soft. Both men hauled manure all day. I went to town paid note in Bank of Commerce. $450 Int $1.60 Int. $11. 85 Paid. C.H. Hughes for Coal $58.75. Pd Dr George account $5.50 mother $2.25 $3.00 sold horse hide and 4 sheep skins $3.00 sold 13 cockerels for 75¢ each. Recd on account $5.00 bot Oatmeal $1.35. bot. C.O. {oil?} 90¢ sent $5.00 to W.H. Durham Box 1052. Toronto. on Mr McGregor's a/c bred E.P. Keepsake to Magnificent

Thursday 19th fine. I finished plowing sod & Will started to plow rape ground. Stewart McIntosh & Mr McEwing of Seaforth: came to see our cattle on their way to Mr Sharp's Sale.

Friday 20th fine. I went to Sharp's Sale. Mary. J. Bessie & {Baby?} to {Clerk's?}. {Die?} & W Batty chored Will. Plowed Flowers {10¢?}

Saturday 21st nov 1908 fine. Will went to mill in morning took 10 bgs oats. 3 barley & 2 peas $19.00 sold 20 bu wheat to Redwin @ 95¢ 1 Cockerel. 75¢. I went to town Recd $26.00 from. Chas Lawley Melita being balance on Elm Park Master 2nd. sent. $9.00 entry fees to A. P. Westervelt for cattle to Winter Fair.

Sunday 22nd fine. Mary E. Aunt J & I went to Church in morning. heard an Educational Sermon col. 50. 02. We stayed at home rest of the day Tom & two of Children came for a while.

Monday 23rd fine. Will finished plowing and started trimming sheep W. Batty Chored. I went to town. bgt hardware 1.90

Tuesday 24th Dull & wet. We fixed up car in morning loaded sheep and feed in afternoon. I pd for car $28.00 and for Consul paper $3.00 pd. Mr Hamilton for Insurance $9.00

Wensday 25th fair. W. Batty helped with chores and 3 lds hauled manure. to mangel grd I went to town sent $15.50 to. J. W. Burt to record. 31 Suffolk sheep recd $25.00 from J. Batty Jr. for ram $11.00 from Geo. R. Beare for ram bgt Spray pump. $2.50 bgt $1.10 worth

Friday nov 27th fair & cool. W Batty hauled manure 4 lds. I did chores & put in storm windows & put in some glass. bred E.P. Keepsake 4th to Magnificent

Saturday 28 fine. W.B. & Harry cleaned box stalls and hauled 3 lds manure I went to town bgt a ticket for Chicago. $14.50, bgt hardware 28¢ Oil on saw. 25¢. Candles. 10¢ got a pair of shoes.

Sunday 29th fair. M.J. Junie Bessie & I went to church in morning Children to S.S. col. 02 I took mother & Baby to Cemetry. bred Kyma 4th to E.P. Ringleader 3rd

Monday 30th Dull & wet. W. Batty took 21 bgs grain to mill. 15 oats. 5 barley. 1 peas I chored in morning and started to Chicago on G.T.R. Train my supper cost. 35¢ berth. 2.00 St cars. 10¢

Tuesday Dec 1st cold. Arrived at Chicago at 9 a.m. breakfast 25¢ dinner 25. supper 25 bed 50. We attended the Annual meeting of Suffolk Association. mt Malone 25.

Dec 1st 08 fair & cold. {illegible} to re. Elected president Mr Morse Joliet vice. Mr Palmer Bearss ind. Dean were elected Directors. Mr Jas B. McGregor & I met. Directors of the American Angus Assn & laid our case re. the interchange of business between the two Records. And they have agreed to put us on same basis as Scotch Herd Book. & treat us the same which is all we could expect. then I want to bed pretty well tired out. Dec 2nd fair & cold I went to see car loads of Cattle. it was a sight The Angus easily lead them. I went to look at cattle in building and then to shops did not do much today but look around Stock. & went to the Angus meeting in evening. Mr Judy Mr Marvin & Mr Thussourian were elected Mr Judy is president I stayed up till about 1 P.M.

Thursday. 3rd fair & cold. I got up about 9 a.m. & watched Judging till I came away pd. Will $10{^00} to help out with his expenses. I pd $1.25 per day. I left Show about 1.30 P.M. had dinner & went to train berth $1.25 paper 05. Tip 10¢ supper 50¢

Friday Dec 4th fair & Cold. I got home about 6.30 a.m. & W Batty & I Chored all day. I went to town. deposited the mon $1000 Mr McGregor gave me to buy cows.

Saturday 5th fair & Cold. I went for flour and Bran. Boys & I cleaned box stalls and disinfected stable with Benoleum.

Sunday 6th snowy. Mary J. Children & I went to Church. heard. Rev. Mr. Crews

Monday 7th stormy. I went to town in morning got 1 ton oil cake. 32 00 & bran Flour x. 90 lbs 9.85 pd Dougles & Sons $5.00 on Mr Rye's Boar. took Cattle in to the show

x bred E.P. Mayflower 3rd to E.P. Ringleader 3rd

Tuesday 8th fair & cold. We did Chores and attended to stock in the show. we had a very nice Aberdeen Angus Annual Meeting. Elected the old officers accepting I took Mr Young's place on Toronto Fair Board. We won everything in sight we showed. Pd Mr W.E. Wright for Pr of Turkeys sent to J Batty $7 70 then.

Wensday 9th Dec /08 fine. we attended show. had one cow killed E. P. Pride 3rd she dressed about 64% weighed 1540 alive and 976 carcase.

Thursday 10th fair. I attended show cattle and went to Banquet in the evening Ticket. $1.50 it was a very satisfactory. sold a bull yesterday to Wm Binnie and Wm Kennay. of Erin. For $150.00 to be delivered soon

Friday 11th Dull & damp. we attended stock & took grist to mill of Oat peas & barley we won 3rd prize on carcase sold carcase for $8.75 - $85.40

Saturday. 12th fine. Will & W.B. cut wood and I went to mill for chop and bgt a load of Barley. @ 51¢ per bu. 51 bu 37 lb D. 51¢ = $26.40 I recd prize money from show $8.00 money for carcase $85.40 pd w. Batty 5.00 axe handle. 30¢

Sunday 13th fair. Mary & Children & I went to church in morning. heard rev. Dr Williamson preach on "Gods love for to the children."

Monday 14th fair & soft. Will & W.B. hauled wood. I chored and I went to town to mail letters saw Geo Henderson. his steers weighed 1020 gave him for beasts. I went to Anniversary in evening with all children col 40¢.

Tuesday Dec 15th fine & soft. I took Will to Stn in morning & sold chickens. W chored also went to mill in afternoon bred. E.P. Rosebud 8th to E P Ring leader 3rd. Paid. the money Mr Mc Gregor gave me to Will to buy a car of cows. to take to him I pd Will $10.00, pd out {Derozze?} 20¢

Wensday 16th fine. W.B. & I chored and put ear tags in Cattle & sheep ringed young bull and. cleaned out eaves trough. & butchered a Lamb bred E.P. Beauty of the to Magnificent went to town in evening bgt Carbolic acid 75¢ Envelopes. dates. 10¢

Thursday 17th stormy. We chored and went to mill for grist. Mr J. Binnie & Alex Mc Kinney both of Erin came for young bull E.P. Ringleader 7th. pd for him $150.00 I sent $37.50 to B.H. Heide Union Stock Yards Chicago. I recd from them $75.00 Prize money.

Friday 18th fair & changeable. We chored cut wood and went to station for "Prince of Benton" he came home in very thin condition his head is about the only part I would recognize. Louis Flick helped us today. took 1 load wood to mill and got grist chop

Saturday 19th fair. Louis Flick here 1/2 day. John Willis & L. cut wood. I chored went to town. Pd Bridges for shoes 4.25 for mending Willies leggings. 40

Sunday Dec. 20th 1908 fair. bred E.P. Belle 2nd & E.P. Keepsake to Prince of Benton Children & I went to Church heard Mr Crews preach on Life of Jesus. A Christmas Sermon it was very good. Children & I went to S. S. Andrew was here all day. gave a few hymns on his Phonograph in evening gave Children 30¢ for Miss Keach present bred E.P. Pride 6th to Magnificent

Monday 21st stormy. We Chored and I went to town in afternoon. took M Cummings Shoal Lake Manitoba to see the College. Barrdt some of the Stock. and he was greatly pleased. I went to School meeting in evening we had a good meeting

Tuesday 22nd fine. We had Workhouse cutting straw and wood. today had hand from Barber & Telfords we got along fairly well C. McDougal bred his P.J. Benton cow to Ringldr 3rd

Wensday 23rd fine. We Chored and Willie & Harry hauled manure 5 lds hauled bred E. P. Belle 4th to Prince of Benton " Century Place Matilda to E.P. Ringleader 3rd " E.P. Mayflower 7th to Prince of Benton " " Rosebud 7th " " " " Mary J & I went to town, to get presents for Children. and other things for Xmas I bgt goose $1 20. Will came home from Mt Forest. bgt ton of Bran from Goldies.

Thursday 24th fine little soft. Will & I went to town in morning. I bgt beef. $3 40/1.25 Stable Reaper. 25¢ barrel of salt. Louis Flick $1.00 for working at sawing on. Tuesday.

Friday 25th dull. W.B. & I did chores and. {sched?} spent Christmas. quite pleasantly. Tom and Family were here for dinner also Andrew was here all day.

Saturday 26th blustery. We did chores and I took Andrew home & went to station to meet Will's family. I recd check from Ont Agr College for $1100.00 for three Angus Females. I gave Will check for 6.95 & Paid Normans Dr. bill for his broken hip. 40.00 x bred E.P. Rosebud to magnificent

Sunday 27th blustery. Mary. Junie & I went to Church in morning. heard Rev Crews preach and went to. S. S. in Afternoon we had a review Mt Burrows. led. Col. 1.00 10¢ 03¢.

Monday 28th fine. Will started to Mount Forest in morning. I want to town in afternoon {heard} dep. 1100 in bank Got a check from. W. Laidlaw for $27.00 Prize money for Guelph Show went to School meeting in evening L. & J. Flick were cutting wood today.

Tuesday Dec. 29/08 fine. Boys hauled manure 6 lds I went to town got windows fixed 20 Got W.B. window fixed. 50¢ dep $27 - Bank & drew ten. got a B.R. Cockerel. from Preston $3{^00}

Wensday 30th Soft. Boys chored & I went to School meeting in morning. Mr Barber was reelected. Trustee and we went over the report. act. Willie went to mill with grist of chop oats & peas in Afternoon. I gave W. Batty Check for Thursday $110 to send to his Father. And. have promised to pay him $13{^84} in morning.

Thursday 31st blustery & Cold. We Chored & I took W. Batty to station and Paid him in full to date $110{^00} Check to his Father $13{^84} in Cash. I then got horse shod groceries 35{^¢}. we spent at to M & Mrs Donis in Evening. Mr & Mrs R. Shortreed Andrew Simpson and Mrs Noris were there. We spent a pleasant Evening. bred E.P. Mayflower 8th to E.P. Ringleader 3rd

Friday Jan 1st 09. blustery. We Chored & Mr House came in afternoon and took a look at Cattle. we also had a chat about school matters. gave Harry 25¢ for New Year bred E.P. Keepsake 3rd to E.P. Mailbag
