Current Page Transcription [edit] [history]

April Sunday 4 1926

Did the milk route up in four hours and a half with the twins and the sleigh. Drove Jean up home for a few minutes and then down to see Jean after. Had a pleasant time as usual and was home by one o'clock.

Monday 5

A light fall of snow early in the morning made it possible to run the team and sleigh on the milk route. Warm sun came out and cooked the snow so that it was hard pulling before I got home. Bobbie Vanderlip helped me with my work in the afternoon. Jean hurt her leg.

Tuesday 6

Jean felt pretty frisky when I peddled milk with her again for the first time in a week. Davis Patton went with me and held my Black mare.

April Wednesday 7 1026

Raining in the morning but faired up around nine o'clock but started again late in afternoon. Jean balked on hill in the lane when I started out and refused to go with coaxing her so Alex put a chain around her neck and pulled her out to the road with "King" after which she went better.

Thursday 8

Put in a wet cold morning peddling milk as the rain of the night before kept up until about 130 when it faired and later in the day the sun shone. Wanted to go up to see Jean but the roads were very bad so fixed up the horses and retired in good time.

Friday 9

A lovely bright Spring day for a change. Only took part of the milk with me on account of bad roads and Alex brought the balance in on the big truck. Mr. Telfer came out in the afternoon and told me that I was to get an increase in salary.
