JANUARY TUESDAY 18 1876

Go to Tannery at 8 1/2. take cars for Toronto. & Tram to Bridge 50cts. Ticket to Toronto return 4.25. Stop over at Hamilton till 5 25 p.m. Call at Mc {Arthur's?}. he is not at home, see his foreman, & have talk about lea. I get dinner 50cts. Meet Donnelly on train also Irwin Boiler Maker. We take Pullman car 25cts. Arrive at Toronto at 7. Meet Mrs. Milloy at {American house?}. long talk with her. I don't go out anywhere. D Milloy & I sit & talk, till bed time.

JANUARY WEDNESDAY 19 1876

Get up at 7. go to Parsons at 9. they tell me they don't like Sole leat {Sole leather}. We have some words over it. I tell them it isn't 1/2 roll'd. I don't get much satisfaction form them. After dinner I go up to Court to hear the Clements trial. First go up to the Queens with Capt Dick to find Scadding. Have long talk with him. about the Tannery & a/c. He shows me a Breech loding Gun he wants me to take. price $100. In P.M. I go to Parsons & Rutledge & I try to get the Books straightened but dont accomplish it. Dick & Scadding come to Hotel to see me. I don't go out. Mrs. Milloy sick today. Willie wants me to go to his place to spend day but I decline. Parsons told me today I might get someone else to take place in Tannery.
