January Tuesday 18 1876 Go to Tannery at 8 1/2. take cars for Toronto. {how?} to ridge 50$. ticket to Toronto return 4.25. stop over at Hamilton till 5 25 p.m. Call at Mc {authur's?}. he is not at home, see his horeman, & have talk about lead. I get dinner 50$. meet Donnelly on train also {Luwin Boilm?} maker. We talk pullman car 25$. arrive at Toronto at 7. meet Mrs. Milloy at {American house?}. long talk with her. I don't go out anywhere. D milley % I sit & talk. till bed time.
get up at 7. go to Parsons at 9. they tell me they don't like {illegible}. we have some words over it. I tell hime it isn't 1/2 {rolls?}. I don't get much satisfaction form him. {After?} dinner I go up to Court to {hear?} he Lements {trial?}. first go up to the Queens with Capt {illegible} to find scadding. Have long talk with him. about the Tannery {illegible}. He shows me a {Beach Lodge Ind?}. he wants to take. price $100. In p.m. I go to parsons & Rutledge & I thri to get the Books straightened but don't accomplish it. Dick & Scadding come to talk {to?}
me . I don't go out. Mrs. Miilloy {illegible} to {lay?}. {Willia?} wants me to go to his place {illegible} but I decline. Parsons told me today I might get someone else {illegible} place in Tannery.
