January TURSDAY 20 1876
Don't get up till 8, go to TP & Co. store at 10 talk to Parsons about Lawders note due tomorrow. he won't advance any funds. Says we will take Stock on Feb 1st & {decides} after that I can draw what is coming to me. Call to see J.W.Fletcher at Blalles office. he is out, meet Cassels on the Street. Have talk with Sloan on Street about Belt-leaf he says they cant afford to pay 38 cts, I take Cars at 3.15. P.M. for home. Donnelly meets me at train. Capt Dick waits down with me. We get home at 8. I find letter from TP& Co. Enclosing Cheque to Balance last months Exp.$ at Tannery for $109.18. I sign a Note of Accomodation at Toronto for them for $4500 blank date. I borrow $10 from TP& Co. to bring me home.
January FRIDAY 21,1876
Donnelly sents Horse & Buggy for me to go to {StC?}. He cant go. sends Joe Gates to drive me. I meet Lawder in StC {St. Catharines} & tell him about Note due today, he goes with me to I Bank & renews his own note. I pay the {dis?} $8.25. I then talk with Crombie about last Gold {Dft}.& {Exc?} J McPhail tells me Ira Crombie returned to StC today. Lawder tells me the Sombra lot was advertized & sold for taxes again & he paid them. I get home at 2 P.M. & go to Tannery.
