Gananoque January 1st 1905

I was at Uncle John Dillon's in morning came home for dinner lent Jim $20 went over to church It was a lovely day thawed a lot stayed at Aunt Ann's alnight

2nd It snowed a little to day Aunt Ann & I went out to Sarahs had dinner there came back had tea with Aunt Ann. & I went down to Oliver to X mas tree 50 cts it turned very cold I stayed at Aunt Ann's alnight

3rd called on R.H. Somerville A Scott had dinner at Alf Jacobs went to Ford Greens funeral came on out to Wm Halladays he gave me an order for a $55 monument was a cold day stayed alnight

4th called on Mrs Ted Bess came on to Jack Kneff on to Ed White on to Mrs Frazer on to Delta had dinner

sold Mrs Conner an old slab for $15 had tea a hotel $1 for hotel bill spent 15 cts was a cold day came out to Mr A. Erwins stayed alnight

5th sold them a $35 monument this morn came on out to Mrs Chants had dinner I called at Will Moulton's came on to Portland had tea 50 cts spet 20 cts came out to H. Grahame stayed alnight was a cold day

6th sold Mr H. Grahame a small cross job $10 went back to Portland to get the size of it called at Wm Noble & Claton Coon's & at Mrs Ed. Halladay she was at Mr Prestons we had dinner there came on to Newboro had tea at Mr John Grahame it was a stormy day and a very stormy night a big fall of snow I stayed alnight at Geo. Preston Hotel

7th It is raining this morning gave Geo $1. he gave me back 15 cts. I follwed the stage through to Elgin the road was very

heavy had dinner at Pats gave Mr J.R. Dargavel $15 that Mr. G.G. Tye gave me to give him a week or more ago it turned cold made an awful crust I came on to Aunt Ann's Mother is there Aunt Ann is sick I spent eve at got about 5 Gals of oats did not pay for them to night stayed at Aunt Anns alnight

8th I spent after noon & eve at we went down to Morton to Mrs Frank Wills wake a while in eve was a cold day

9th stayed at Aunt Anns in fore noon went out to wake funeral in afternoon I came on out to Sarah's it stormed and blowed

10th I started out fed my horse at Geo. Acheson came by Philipsville & Delta home called on Mr Sliter in Delta got my clothes in Lynhurst paid $15 on them owe $3 yet got home about dark ti snowed and blowed the roads were awfull heavy

11th have a bad cold in my head set around the house alday it snowed to day

12th it rained mostly alday I went over to Chas Pritchard's in after- noon a while Jim & Patience went over to Uncle John's I spent eve at F Tye's

13th helped Jim saw wood alday we spent eve at Franks had Oysters was a nice day

14th helped Jim saw wood have to night $1. was a cold day

15th I went over to church it snowed a little to-day stayed at Aunt Ann's alnight

16th came home for dinner on to Town in after noon brought in 6 doz of eggs for Aunt Ann got $1.70 for them got in before dark paid my dues $1.50 in I.O.O.F. 5 cts for hore hound candy was a windy day & cool

17th 80 cts for oats Mr Ed Keating paid me in full $35 I sent cards to J. Leeder J. Chapman Mrs A.O. Mustard P. Nolan A. Jacob Mr Dargavels meeting in eve was a nice day snowed a little

18th got a shoe on mare 20 cts a shirt at R. Taylors 75 cts a pair of boots & rubbers at Thomson $3. left a pair to get taped came down called at Geo. Cross he was away called at W Tyes came on to Lansdowne stayed alnight at Geo left horse at hotel was a nice day snowed a little

19th sold Mrs Gamsby a $35 stone had dinner at Geo he said he would settle for horse feed we came out to Jas. Grier he was ready to go away on to Nunns down to wm Hollinsworth on to Mallorytown had tea 75 cts Geo went home on train I came on to Lyn it thawed to-day & last night I stayed at Geo. Pergan to night left horse at hotel

20th I went out to Mr McCready's back to Uncle Steve's had dinner came out to Booth on to C Youngs then to David Leeders

21st I came on to Athens had dinner at Alf. Scotts. 25 cts for shoe on mare 10 cts to Jimmy it snowed some to day Alf & I went to Donovans meeting in Brockville this eve 40 cts for ticket we had some Oysters 50 cts I paid for them.

22nd I took Norton Scott down home 8 cts for tole we had dinner & tea there came back to Athens was a nice day stayed alnight at Geo. Churchill.

23rd called on Mrs Gibson & Mrs McClean came out to Wm H. Moultons had dinner came on to Delta called on Mr Bell on to John Chapman near Harlen stayed alnight was a cold day

24th came on to Geo Achesons had dinner on to Stantons then to Sarahs there baby died a few minutes after I got there about

half past three or four It was a very stormy day Billy & I went to Elgin in eve I sold Mr J. Chapman a $75 monument this morning

25th came out to Aunt Ann's for dinner went back to Morton telephoned to Mr Fitsgerald the minister 25 cts. came by Brown's corners to Lynhurst the roads were blocked the other ways Mother went out to Sarahs from Aunt Ann's 10 cts for handkerchief I paid Geo. Charlton in full $3 John Dillon gave me back the $10 I gave him to give our Jim's oats it was an awful blustery day in election day for Ontario house I stayed at hotel alnight

26th The Minister & I started for Sarahs went by Browns Corners had to shovel through one bank drive around another got there at noon the funeral was at Elgin we put Hebert in vault the Minister & I had tea after noon at Mr J. R. Dagavel's came on out

to Sarahs had tea came over Brier Hill to Lynhurst got there about half past eight was a nice day the roads were very heavy Tom Sly snet a rig and horse to day to tell Jim of baby death I am to settle for it.

27th paid my bill 75 cts 25 cts for a pair of socks it stormed quite hard in forenoon & blowed I came home for dinner turned out nice in after-noon stayed alnight at home

28th I helped Jim to-day Mary gave Jim $115 for me one day this week Jim usede $15 of it he gave me the balance $1.00 on Feb 1st was a nice day

29th Sarah & Bill & tena brought Mother home I gave Andy $5 pay in full for work came over to church in after noon & down we --------- was a nice cool day I stayed at Aunt Anns alnight

30th stayed for dinner went out to Sarah Billy & I went out to Mr H. Smith to see Mr. H. Metcalf on to Elgin I spent 25 cts lent Billy $15 stayed alnight was a nice cold day

31st went around to Hue Glover's he was away to H. Smiths funeral came back seen Mrs Steacy had dinner at Willis Holisters called at H. Glovers again came on to H. Dean's on to Morton seen F.Wills & Heber Young spent 5 cts spent eve at had tea gave him 50 cts for oats we talked O was a nice day I stayed alnight at Aunt Ann's

2nd helped Jim this forenoon Billy came out brought a sheep out I fetched it in to Mr Wm Harris in after-noon was quite cold & blowed some

3rd Went down put 60 cts duty on date stone for pump house 47 cts Freight $3.99 For other marble & 4@ duty 25 cts for carting to J. Pelow went to bank paid Alex Argue's note have to day noon $73.96 came down to Mr R. Hortons in after noon had tea at Ed Earls came

on out to Tommy Bryons to a party 25 cts was a cold day & a very cold night

4th Jim went to Town to-day I got up after nine had Breakfast done the chores went down to Johnny Mooreheads got order for Mon. $118 and part of two Inscriptions called a Jas. Townsends & at Uncle Johns on my way home was a lovely day

5th paid the missionary money for the folks at home $2 went over in after noon & home in eve was a cold day

6th came to Town brought in two 4 Doz Eggs for Mother & Patience got $1 for them spent 25 cts Alex Argue gave me his new note for $20 for 4 os at 7% Inst and paid Int. on old one 50 cts. got Jims not for $100 for 8 Mo's at 6% Int. got my boots paid for tapping 50 cts, was a nice day snowed some to-night

7th started fire in shop got 2 bu of oats 35 lbs of bran $1.17 a package of International stock food 50 cts a pair of pants $2 got out some tracings in after-noon Ed. McClean was in Town to day has been a cold day

8th worked at my books got out statement for Scotchman $1.50 for a bottle of Kennedys Medical discovery has ben a nice day have to- night $67.17 cts

9th sent Jas. Hutcheon statement & an order six mon. sent J. Leeder a card a letter was a rough stormy day the same at night & cold

10th wrote letters to R. Horton R. Leeder R. H. Somerville D.A. Wiltse A. G Wiltse Wm Poole John Campbell Mrs Wes Baker a card to Joe Spicer 25 cts for stamps was quite rough in fore-noon R. Gamble came in stayed alnight with me I got a celoid collar 20 cts I paid my insurance on stock to day $6.76

11th R. had Breakfast & dinner with me gave Dr Bird 50 cts for fixing my finger 20 cts for hair cut Sent R. $3 we followed Tom Baker over in after noon to Clayton are to give him 1.50 I paid $1.10 of this we got to Lafargeville about half past four was a nice day

12th It was a stormy day Amelia's mother & two brothers came for dinner

13th It blowed alday & snowed some I spent 45 cts we played solitary & tunk

14th it snowed a little & blowed all day we played solitary & tunk

15 We played solitary & tunk in fore noon came home in after noon the roads were very heavy Rob went home before tea he paid me all but $1 have to night 56.93

16th had shoes taken of flossie 80 cts for two bu. of oats $50.66 Duty on granite 9 cases Joe Pelow hauled it up

I gave hime $1 John Leeder helped us he also helped me shovel some snow in fore noon I gave him 75 cts for his help to-day got pants changed at S. Fraids gave 25 cts difference it started to storm about noon was a wild night snowed & blowed

17th 25 cts for carbolic save I fixed up some tools it stormed & blowed al-day Jack started on post to day I wrote to Tom Dillon to-night

18th I drawed $25 out of bank sent $24.70 cts to V.M.Co. this pays them in full up to date P.O. Order cost 10 cts. wrote S. B. Norton 6 cts for laundry Job for a stamp was a nice day blowed some went for drive in eve took Miss Scott spent eve there have to-night $3.35

19th started for home went out near dump turned back came back to E. Pages the roads were awful heavy I left my cutter on road near gate & walked in had dinner

left after three got in in time for church gave Eph. boys 10 cts each was a nice day

20th 25 cts for a pair of socks 15 cts for leadpencils worked in shop in my room at night 53 cts for two aprons half of this to be charged to Jack 26 cts was a nice warm day thawed

21st I wrote to Jas. Walker Q.Q. Co. 10 cts for sulpher 5 cts for sulpher 4 cts for stamp 45 cts for writing pad & envelopes Jack finished cutting post to-day there are 24 he has cut since he came back John Bell finished moving out on farm to-day I got a bag of oats from him stayed in my room to night.

22nd We started polishing post I Pol. 5 was a lovely day I rto wrote in this book to-night started it.

23rd we worked at the Post I Pol 5 was a lovely day drove a while in eve wrote in this at night.

24th We finished pol. posts 3 Pol. 12 Jack Pol. 11 he started the name on one I worked on date stone for pump house in after-noo was a lovely day spent eve with Daisy have to-night $1.51 cts

25th I finished Pol. date stone wrote to S.B. Norton Q.Q. Co. 4 cts for stamps A. Hirst paid me in ful $50 I got ready left Town after two went out to Willets Holme seen Herman Pierce came home was a lovely day paid Patience for the eggs I brought in the last time $1

26th Mother is up to Wm Leadbeater I came over in the after-noon went out to Sarah's was a nice day

27th went over to H Dancys on to Elgin 50 cts for dinner Mrs Kelsey agreed to take a set of posts from me I came out to for tea we went to Robin Gray to a party 25 cts was a nice day snowed a little at night I stayed at Aunt Ann's

28th went down to Morton called at Andrew Scotts went across to Will Greens on to Lyndhurst seen him there & Called at Mrs Greens she was away Ena was there came home got home after three Jim Cougler a cow at Pat Simpsons sale was a nice day

Mar 1st came to Town brought in 6 Doz. Eggs for edith 3 doz for Patience got 25 cts a doz. for them got in at eleven went down to station got express parcel for 35 cts some lace for Flora 15 cts she gave me 20 cts this Morn. I sent a card concerning parcel was a lovely day I started date stone to letter it

2nd worked on date stone some 20 cts for setting two shoes on mare has been a lovely day. gave Johnny Leeder $5.00 $1 to Johnny Bell for a bag of oats & a broom

3rd John S & I left town about ten were down to R. Leeders had dinner he promised me the job of mon. for Annie when they get ready to order we called at Colin Grays sold him a $20 stone got to Town about six was a cloudy day but nice 25 cts for a book of stamps

4th sent letters to Wm Gilbert R. Donaldson R. Mitchell Jas. Walker Frank Johnston Will Moorehead Mary Moultin Ben Kirker those were all dunns sent a card to Q.Q. Co it snowed some in morn & blowed all day I left town about four had tea at the Moultons

5th Was a little stormy & blustery I came over to church paid $2 to Minister Mother sent $2 over spent eve at stayed alnight at Aunt Ann's

6th Aunt Ann & I went over to Maclemars to see about getting a girl on to W{illegible} Johnsons had dinner came back I shoveled

Aunt Anns road out went over to Thos Somervills he gave me $1 owes me 50 cts yet & I went out to Wm Morris to party 25 cts lent R.G. 50 cts came out to Sarahs to-night was a nice day

7th got up about eleven had dinner drove Billys colt out to Geo Achesons on to Phillipsville back to Billys for tea came over to Kirklands to party spet 5 cts 20 cts at party took horse came back to Sarah's was a nice day

8th I got up about Eleven started out after dinner went up to Joe Stantons had tea sold a $75 mon. went on up to Mrs Joe Stantons stayed alnight was a nice day 10 cts for a shave

9th Went over to Wellingtons Kerrs they were away on to Chafeys Locks across the Ice to Newboro 50 cts for dinner spent 15 cts 15 cts to see Hockey match seen Ed McClean came out to Singletons Corners had tea with Geo Church went up to Wm. F. Steadmans

on to Joe Stantons stayed alday night was a nice day

10th came out to Jessie Knowltons on to Mr Shaws on to Wm Pooles had dinner sold a $115 mon. on to Portland back to Philipsville had tea & stayed alnight at Wes Tackaberry sold Philo Haskin two small stones $15 was a nice day

11th Went to Delta sold Mr Jas. Bell a mon $100 had dinner with him 20 cts for handerchief left Delta about three went to Elgin Went up to W. Kerr again on to Jas G spent 20 cts got over a bu of oats stayed alnight at Aunt Anns was a nice day

12th came out in after-noon Mr & Mrs Wm G. were there was a nice day stayed at Aunt Anns alnight

13th I went over to H Yorks sold a $6 stone to Alf. Jacobs had dinner got Ins on to R. Wood on to Lyndhurst then to Seeleys Bay sold Mrs Will Flood a $18 stone came home a nice day gave Jim $10 to buy a horse for me

14th I came to Town this morning 25 cts for a book of stamps wrote Wm Gilbert Geo. Howard spent 5 cts gave Jack Leeder $10 we settled for Posts I owe him $9 on them yet was a nice day ordered some marble

15th sharpened a few tools got out some tracings Jim was in with lumber was a nice day he gave me back the $20 I gave him on Monday Benny Thurston called on me Mr. Ed. Hutchen sent me his Photo to day

16th it snowed a little I worked on date stone for pump house 5 cts for whitening turned out nice have tonight $30.65 cts

17th finished date stone left about four came out to G Was a nice day stayed at Aunt Ann's to night

18th got up about went over to Mrs D. McMachens on to Elgin went out to Hollis Dancys sold a $70 mon back to Elgin went out on howards rig to station Lillie & I went to Westport 45 cts for my ticket{large ink blot} ticket I paid 20 ctns for Lillie's

the train was late it was near two when we got to Westport 25 cts for dinner I gave Mary $2 It was about four when Geo. Howard & I left for Elgin was after seven when we arrived I came out to Aunt Ann's it was after ten when I arrived it rained a little in morn started at noon again & rained the balance of day & night I spent 10 cts 50 cts for horse feed at Pats Mr Gilbert paid me in full $52 the roads were very soft was not safe to go out of a walk

19th I choped the snow & Ice of Aunt Ann's house in fore-noon spent after noon & eve at was a nice day

20th came out to Seeleys Bay had at Joe MacSoreys his wife & I went across the Ice to John Murphys sold a 35 mon & Jas Simpson a $48 mon had tea at Mr Murphys came back to Bay I stayed at Alberts alnight was a nice day

21st Went up to Washburn & across the canal to Jos Hichcock back to Joyceveill 50 cts for dinner R. Donaldson paid me in full $5 had tea at Wm. Bells called there to see Mr John McClean came to Town got in about six left after seven went down to Lansdown to Geo's was a nice day

22nd sold Mrs Forbes a mon $35 paid Geo. in full $4 lent hime $10 there was 40 cts for horse feed I went out to Rob Mitchell they paid me in full $75 came to Town for dinner called on Minnie Landon on my way up got a draft for Jas. Hutcheon $100 cot 40 cts 50 cts on Subscription for Nelson Amo spent eve with was a nice day.

23rd sent cards to A. Jacob Jas. Walker Jas. Hutcheon sent letters to C. Burke A. Gamble Wm Gilbert sent Jas. Hutcheon & order for 3 mon. Jim ws in with lumber gave him 75 cts that I owed Patience

on Eggs & Frank Tye $1.50 that I owed Edith on Eggs $5.40 Duty & 5 F on marble 25cts carting was a nice day. spent eve at Mr Salters

24th Mr Salter & I went out cemetery he ordered a $50 mon. 75 cts for harness repairs 15 cts for crystal on M. watch left about four T.G. Tye came out home with me it rained mostly all the way home the roads were very soft was a cloudy day

25th JIm & I got a load of wood from out back after dinner left about four for Lyndhurst went on out to Mrs F. Pierce arrived about seven had tea Herman was along with us. sold Mrs Pierce a mon 75 it was a little after twelve when we got home I lent Jack $15 to-day 90 cts for condition powders to J.R. Tye the road were very soft especially along by Godkins was a lovely day

26th Went up to Aunt Ann's had dinner brought horse out left it we walked up to church it rained this eve was fine Thos. Somerville paid me in full 50 cts. untill eve I came home to-night

27th Jim & I went to Lyndhurst I called on Mrs Ford Green we got home for dinner I lent Jim $5 came to Town in after noon brought in 7 1/2 Doz of Eggs it rained a little in fore-noon was cloudy & chilly in after-noon the water was across the road in after was after six when I got to Town

28th got 70 cts for eggs I worked on tracings was a nice day have to-night $8.74 cts.

29th sent a letter to Andy 50 cts Missionary money to Mrs Halladay was a nice day.

30th Jack helped about an hour 1 3/4 hrs to get Granite in shop Ed Gonyou helped I gave him 35 cts was a cloudy rained day some wind to lodge in eve.
