W 18th. Davidson thrashing. Sowed 7 Bushels of Wheat in the corner by of Gobles & Craigs. Received 2 Dolrs. from Me. Neelands in advance for pease.

Th 19th. Davidson thrashing. Four Bush of Pease & seven lbs to Patton & 106 six lbs of Barley.

F 20th. Davidson Thrashing. Commenced sowing pease in the field in front of the barn, sowing without harrowing three bushels p. Acre. Received from William Stafford the balance due on his pease $1871/2 cts.

S 21st Davidson thrashing. Omittted on the 19th. Sowed Cabbage seed. Sowed Tomato seed.

M 23rd. Davidson working.

T 24th. Davidson working. 104 lbs of Flour to Davidson. 8 B. of Pease to Neelands received 3 Dol. being the balance on the same

W 25th. Davidson thrashing, finished. Sow pigged four Pigs.

Th 26.th Sowing the upper half of the pea field. Mary wrote to her Father., letter Postage s1.5 d currency

F. 27th. Finished sowing pease: sowed them without dragging on land plowed this spring, at the rate of three Bushels per acre.

S. 28th Received a Summons to the Division Court confessed judgement and paid 3 Dollars leaving 3.81 cts yet to pay. The note was for seed wheat for Davidson which I pay and trade of cash to him for work. Settled with Dumpier by receipting the sum of 380 cts on the back of his note. (Omiited yesterday) sowed Onion leek & Beet seed. Today sowed pease and planted strawberry plants. Received from Henry Willimere One Dollar being part payment on two bushels of peace at 621/2 cts per B.

Th 3rd Posted a letter to Christie & Corbett, another to Robert Young. Inveraray. Ten Bushels of Peas to Michael Andreas for which I have received Twenty B. of Potatoes.

F 4th. Commenced to sow Clover seed in the Pea? field. Sowed 8 Pints an acre. 7 Pints of Clover and 2 of Timothy mixed. Traded 1/2 lbs of Pease for

the same of wheat. Settled with James Davidson for his fathers thrashing Received before today 808 cts worth of stuff today 2 Dollars worth of flour which made us square.

S. 5th. Settled with James Salter his account against me forty bushls. of Lime at 10 d. per bushl. £ 1.13.4 d. Three cows to Bull $3. Total £2.18.4 My A/c against him One lb. of Turnip seed s.2.6 d. forty lbs of Flour 8 shilgs 2 Bush of Fall wheat 8 sh. 5 Bush of Spring wheat s.15.71/2 d. 30 lbs of Flour 5.71/2 d Total £1.19.9 d. deduct the value of three B. of Pease which I let him have and there is s.7 and 4 d due him yet. Finished sowing Clover seed.

W. 9th. Sowed wheat in the upper field 3 Bushels

Th. 10th. Settled with John Goble. His left against Me for Interest on land for three years last April the fourth of this year is Thirty two Dollars Forty cents. My A/C against him for the same period is Seven Dollars Forty cents Ver. 1.96 cts for Beef from Craigs 4.50 for Thrashing 1.00 for Portmanteau. Paid him Eleven Dol. 87 cts from The Lumber & this he received for me on the ninth. Balance due Mr. Goble $13.13 cts. for the same I have given him a due bill Memoranda 1 Bushel of Buck wheat to Mr Goble sometime spring which may be entered here but of that I am not certain this goes on the new a/c. Due Mr Goble 1 Dol. for water carriage. Fortney half a day with waggon.

Saturday 12th. 47 lbs of Buck wheat to John Kennedy at 50 cts per Bush. 26 lbs of Flour to J Davidson at 21/4 cents per lb. Fetched Seed wheat from Mill.

M. 14th. Sowed fifteen Bls of Wheat of 111/2 Acres of land which was fall wheat stubble

T 15th. Mr J Goble working the other day I should have stated that the settlement between me and Mr Goble did not include work done for me the past winter.

W. 16th. Mr J Goble half day. 94 lbs of Buckwheat Flour at per lb to James Davidson. Friday 18th. A letter from Christie and Corbett 7 cts. Postage dated Owen Sound 12th. instant

S. 19th. First little sow six pigs.

M. 21st Second sow with five little pigs. Salter the wagon - half day.

T 22nd. Third sow with eight little ones. Omitted Sunday 20th. Florence of a cow calf Mary planted out 800 cabbage plants.

W. 23rd. Half day sowing wheat for Davidson. Forty eight lbs of Buckwheat flour at 2 cts per lb.. Yesterday evening a letter from Cousin John W. for father.

Th 24th. Received from Robert Young two papers relating to the Town hall. One dozen Herrings for 9 d. from Uncle Iden. & delivered the above named papers to J Seage?

F 25th. One dozen Herrings for nine pence from Uncle Iden.

S 26th. One Trout from Iden Goble 121/2cts. Fortney the wagon half day. 60 lbs of Barley to Salter at 50 cts per Bushl.

M. 28th. A pair of Coburgers= sheep? $21/2. from George Posted latter to Christie & Corbett containing my note for $137 this being the amount at present due them.

W. 30th Planted 300 Cabbages.

Th. 31t. Planted 230 Cabbage plants. Planted Beans. Planted Cucumber seed. Planted a few potatoes for early use.

June

F 1st. Last evening by Phi;. received one centre.pin Big Pinion. Two small Pinions & to roller bearers from Owen Sound. Paid:Seven Bushels of Potatoes from Christ Schwendker One Pair of Coburgs for Fred from George 23/4 D.

S 2nd. 1 dozn Herrings of Uncle Iden 9 d. 2 Bushls of Barley to H. Willimere at 50 cts per B. finished setting posts at the back of the garden. Commenced planting potatoes.

M. 4th 16 lbs of barley to Willimere.

T 19th. Made a bargain with Fred to chop me two acres of Bush at five Dolrs. per Acre and eight days is the time allowed for an acre every day over time he has to give me three yorkers for his board. He commenced this morning.

W. 20th. Fred working. Sowed my Turnip seed.

Th 21st Settled with William Telford Blacksmith His A/C against me $20.641/2. My A/C against him for Pease Cash and Wheat $16.251/2. Balance due him Four Dols. thirty nine cts. Mr John Goble altered Buck and Lion and the old sows pig. Fred chopping.

F 22nd. John Goble two pigs 75 cents each.

S. 23rd Fred working. Two pigs to Iden at 75 cents each. Two pigs to James Stewart at 75 cents each By MacLachlin, mending spade. Roberts boat from CF Schwendker.

M. 25th. A pig to Margerate Stewart for half a Dol. Cash. A block cleaner cleaned our old block and fixed mothers old watch paid him in cash one Dol and a half. borrow half a Dol. from Mrs Stewart & another half from Uncle Iden. Working at Road work. commenced this morning.

S. 30th. Finished road work We have worked eight days for myself, five for Robert two for Father, and two for Fred. Two pigs to William Davidson. Trout from Iden Goble 6 d.

July

M. 2nd. Commenced logging.

W. 4th. Mr J Goble killed the fatted Calf.

Th. 5th. Mr J Goble went to Southampton with the Calf and sold it for Six Doll. and two shillings and four pence. Bought hooping & rivets two Shillings and eight pence. Left the skin with J. George it weighed fifteen lbs. at nine cents per lb. this goes on his a/c Mr. Goble is paid.

F 6th. A pair of Coburgs for Robert from J. George $2.75 cts.

M 9th. Sold two male pigs to Martin Eby for one Dol. Paid.

T. 10th. Settled with Uncle Iden Goble to this date that we might be able to get the proper writings on the land I purchased from him for

the sum of Fifty Six pounds five Shillings. The sum I am indebted to Mr Goble is Four hundred & Eighty seven Dolrs. Sixty one cts. That is Two hundred & twenty five Dolars. purchase money on the Land which is Forty five acres off the Eastern end of lot Thirty one Lake shore Range in the township of Saugeen. Two Notes of the collective value of Two hundred & Nineteen Dolrs. Forty four Cts. with interest and compound interest on the same to this date. This A/C does not include a few trifling items which I have had since Janry. 1860 nor does it affect any entry which I may have against him since that date. Omitted above between same and to this date Since Janry. 1st 1859.

W. 11th. Commenced haying.

Th 12th. Fortney the wagon all day. Salter Three lbs. of shingle nails borrowed.

F 13th. Fortney the wagon Omiited on the 10th 31 herrings of Iden 371/2 cts.

M. 16th. Witness to the giving of A Deed for Twenty two and a half acres of Land on Lot Thirty one Lake shore Range by Iden Goble to Robert and also to Philip. Also A Deed to Robert & Philip by Mr. John Goble for the same number of Acres to each. Also of the giving of a Mortgage for the Sum of Five hundred Dolrs. to Mr Iden Goble by Robert payable five years from date & bearing a yearly interest of six per Ct. Also of the giving of another to Mr John Goble for the sum of One hundred & Eighty Dolrs. with yearly interest at six per cent, payable Three years from sale. Received Eight Dolrs. from Iden and Two from John Goble Cash.

W 18th. A Chest for Maria from Rinsie which Christian will settle for me. price ) Maria received a letter from her Father.

Th 19th. Sold a pig to the Potter for one Dol. which he will settle with Mother.

F 20th. Finished haying. William Stafford Wagon half day

S 21st. Posted a letter to Robert Young on Lodge business. Also a letter to Messrs. Christie & Corbett enquiring for my old notes which have not been sent. Delivered Notes to the parties who stand good for Rent belonging to the different congregations preaching in the Good Templars Hall.

T. 24th. Received the Deeds from Roy also the Mortgages for the Gobles & paid him for the same the sum of $71/2 Dolrs. Received from Iden Goble the sum of Seven & a half Dolrs. Made a bargain with James Salter to cut six and a quarter acres of pease for twenty bushels.

W. 25th. Hoe & upright for cradle 68 cents of MacLachlin

F 27th. Fred working.

S. 28th. Fred working. Salter hoeing Turnips, but board from Kinsies 121/2 Dolrs. which CF Schwendker will settle for me.

M 30th. Made a bargain with Mr James Salter to hoe my turnips for the sum of Three & a Half Dolrs. this pay also for the days work on Saturday. Commenced cutting Fall wheat in the field next to Georges. it was rather green. Mr J. Goble working in the house. Fred working. Fifty one lbs of Oats to Salter. Sent.

J. 31st Mr John Goble planeing. Salter working at his job. Fred at his. Not working in the Harvest. Received a letter from Christie & Corbett containing my old Notes. Sent in my bill for Cord wood delivered last winter to the Trustees of the Good Templars Hall Amount Two Dolrs & a half.

Lent Christian Schwendker 100 lbs of flour. Sold MacLachlin 113 lbs of flour at 21/2 cts per lb. Sold James George 32 lbs of flour at 21/2cts. Sold Salter 98 lbs of flour at 21/2 cts. Paid back to James Stewart the flour I borrowed of him 167 lbs. Cut 23 stooks of wheat.

W. 15th. Mr J Goble glazing and hanging door. Fred & W. Davidson his courets? two days. Salter cutting pease. Cut forty stooks of wheat Florence and Lilly to Salters Bull.

Th. 16th. Mr J Goble fixing door and planeing floor. Fred chopping. Salter cutting pease. Cut 17 stooks of wheat carted all from the field by

Craigs. Lambert ordered fifty Bushls. of wheat fall to be delivered at Shantzs to be paid for by the middle of October. Received of Mr J. George the sum of two & half Dolrs for Cord wood delivered to Lodge Trustees.

F 17th. Cut 54 stooks of wheat Fred (two days) chopping.

S 18th. Cut 38 stooks of wheat. Fred (two days) chopping. Salter cutting pease yesterday and today

M 20th. Salter finished cutting pease. Fred chopping Agreed with James Davidson to pay him 75 cts whilst working in the harvest and 50 cents per day when working at other work. James Davidson one day raking and binding. Cut fifty six stooks of wheat. Agreed to pay Joseph Forthey 21/4 Dolrs. for a Jack and edging plane. Lent 28 and 9 lbs of Salt with the bag to Joseph Fortney.

T. 21st. James Davidson working at raking & binding. Finished this forenoon cutting fall wheat in Philips lower field cut nineteen stooks. Commenced cutting spring wheat in the corner between Craig & John Gobles line cut 37 stooks. Mr. Joseph Shell ordered 14 bushels of fall wheat for seed. Fred chopping. Davidsons calf in pasture.

W 22nd. James Davidson in the harvest. Fred chopping. Cut wheat 5 stooks.

Th. 23rd James Davidson half day binding, & half day working in the barn. Cut 22 stooks of wheat.

Saturday 25th. James Davidson half a day in the turnips. Fred chopping. Paid my years Subscription for the Morning Star. till No 8 in the fourth Year. & received a receipt for the same.

M. 27th. James Davidson rakeing & binding. Fred chopping. Finished cutting the spring wheat in the field by Craigs & Johns. 48 stooks. Fortney half day with wagon. Paid to W. Telford two Dolrs. on his a/c.

W 4th. Settled with James Stewart to this date. His A/C against me is on old A/C 438 cts. Himself in harvest 6 days at a Dolr. per day 400 cts. his Son two days at cts. per day 125 cts. And 411/2 Bushls. of potatoes at 25 from corner folded amt. illegible 10371/2 cts. equal to 20.001/2 cts. this is corner folded amt. illegible the date of our last settlement.

My A/C against him is for two pigs at 75 cts each 150 cts. 171/2 lbs of Beef at 4 cts. - 70 cts. Nails 30 cts Stove pipe 25 cts. Coat 300 cts equal to 573 cts. this is from Janry 1860 to this date The difference between us is 14251/2 in Stewarts favour. I have given him a Memoranda of the same. Pease to Rob 116 lbs. pease to Phil 53 lbs Pease to myself 98 lbs. Philip working all day Rob working half day.
