January NEW YEAR'S DAY (Dominion) WEDNESDAY, 1

Choring. Foggy and dull started to rain about ten o'clock and raining most of day. Vance and Art Garneau here for an hour. Harry Philp and Della Stinson married

THURSDAY, 2

Choring and chopping in afternoon. Harry Booth called. Brock to town at night. Neary fall of snow in P.M. Fine night.

FRIDAY, 3

Pa choring and sifted ashes. Brock took 8 pigs to Morrefeild in morning. Helped up churn in P.M. Lizzie here in afternoon. Mother sick with cold. Fine and bright but cold.

SATURDAY, 4

Da done chores. Brock took 9 lambs to Moorefield in morning. Very stormy morning and cold. Brock and I to town at night.

SUNDAY, 5

Brock to church at night. Fine and cold.

January EPIPHANY (Quebec) MONDAY, 6

Brock done chores. We picked 16 geese. Mr. Henderson called to say Grace Brett died this morning and stayed for supper. Milder. Snowy at times in P.M.

TUESDAY, 7

Da done chores. Brock took down 17 geese to Herwich and a few bags of chop in morning. at Tom Speers sale in afternoon. rather mild and fine.

WEDNESDAY, 8

Done chores. Mother, Brock and I to Grace Brett's funeral in afternoon. Fine in morning but cold and quite stormy by night

January THURSDAY,9

Men choring. Very stormy day and cold with wind.

FRIDAY, 10

Men choring. Da started to flail the bit of flax. Very stormy day from N.W but finer to-words night.

SATURDAY, 11

Men choring. Da finished flailing the flax and Brock drew a load of corn. We to town at night. Grace Mason came out with us. Mr. Thompson very sick lovely bright day but sharp.

SUNDAY, 12

Brock to church at night,Grace went with him. Fine but cold east wind.

Januray MONDAY, 13 X

Da done chores. Brock to town with chop and cream can and sent a box to Clara. Killed pig in afternoon. Very mild bright day.

TUESDAY, 14

Men choring and started to draw ot manure. Brock took me to morning train. Going to Elora. Dull but fine.

Done chores and drawing out manure. Brock to town at night. Fine day. Harry Carson at Bonn Germny.

January, THURSDAY, 16

Men choring and drawing out manure. Brock met me at night train. {name?} and Sadie here in evening. Mother up to Ray's to see Harry. He sick with flu. Fine bright day.

FRIDAY, 17

Me choring. finished drawing out manure and bought in a load of corn. Brock up to Rays in evening. Fine but not very bright. Had a letter from Betty saying that Robt. Alvies is dead.

SATURDAY, 18

Men choring and chopped nine bags in afternon. Brock and I to town at night. Bill {Saso?} here for dinner. Mild and foggy.

Brock to church at night. Da up to Ray's to see how Harry was. Fine bright day.

January MONDAY, 20

men choring. Then fanning up the flax that was flailed. Da sifted ashes and we cleaned furnace. Lovely brightwarm day.

TUESDAY, 21

Choring in morning. Brock and Da at AnthonyKirkpatrick's sale in afternoon We over to Mc Isaac's in evening. Very fogy and mild. Mrs. Wm Lowery died.

WEDNESDAY, 22

Done chores. Brock down with some chop in forenoon, aslo took black pig. Cleaning hen & pig pens in aftenoon. Very mild and foggy. Snow almost gone.

January THURSDAY, 23

Choring and clipping sheep and cattles backs. mild and foggy almost rain at times.

FRIDAY, 24

Choring in morning. Chopped 21 bags in afternoon. I up to Ray's for tea. Fine but cold north wind.

Choring and drawing out Manure. Brock and I to town at night. Fine bright day.

Brock to church at night. Fine day bright at times and not cold.

Done chores and brought in a load of corn in forenoon. Cutting wood in bush on other place in afternoon. Lovely fine day.

Done chores and chopping for pigs in forenoon. Cutting wood in back bush in afternoon. Fine and mild. Wonderful winter weather and very little frost, some wheels.

Done chores brought in the rest of corn from the field. Cutting wood in the afternoon. Beautiful fine mild day.

Done chores and trying to chop in morning but engine was unsteady. Da at back bush in afternoon. Brock mother and I to town. {illegible}. Fine bright day. Had buggy to town.

Brock & I over to George Thompsons for dinner and Tea. Mrs, Jack Walker here in afternoon. Fine day. a little flurry of snow in afternoon. Cold north wind.

Done chores. Brock took Da and Ma to morning train. They gone down to see Mr. Thompson. Came home at night. Brock choring & sifting ashes. We to town at night. Flurries of snow all day cold wind.

Done Chores. Brack to Arthur horse fair in afternoon. Da cleaning hen house. Fine & bright but cold north wind.

Done chores. Brock drove me to town in morning. Had dinner at {illegible}. Men chopping in aftenoon. Uncle Rich here about {illegible}. {Elaine?} called with invitations to Alex Mc Kellan's dance. Brock and I over at night. Fine bright day but sharp.

February THURSDAY, 20

Done chores and sifted ashes. Cutting wood in back bush in afternoon. Mother over to Wilmatt's in P.M. Fine and milder. Strong east wind at night.

Choring and at bush in afternoon. Strong east wind foggy and dull.

Done chores and chopping in morning. At bush in afternoon. Strong east wind with rain and sleet at night. Uncle Rich {symbol?} called this a.m.

Choring and sifted ashes. Break down with hide and cream can in forenoon. At bush in afternoon. Dull rainy morning. Soft snow in P.M. Colder and stormy to-wards evening. Jack Noecker brought home from Toronto. {name?} dead. Age 50 years.

Choring all day. Da down to Noeckers in afternoon. Quite stormy all day and very cold wind.

February THURSDAY, 27

Done chores. Men chopping in morning At bush in afternoon. Brock took mother & I down to Noeckers in evening. Fine with a little snow to-wards evening.

FRIDAY, 28

Done chores. Pa took Brock tomorning train. He gone to Chatsworth. Capt. Brian came on morning train. He and I up to {Saso's?}in afternoon and for tea. Mr. Craig here in afternoon and all night. Very mild and bright. Neary rain in evening with thunder and lightning. Turned colder in night. Mrs. Leo Shant died very suddenly to-night

Men choring and chopping in forenoon. Da sifting ashes in P.M. We to Mrs. Leo Shant funeral in afternoon. Dull morning. Quite a leary rain in afternoon and evening. foggy.

ASH WEDNESDAY (Quebec & N.W.T.) WEDNESDAY, 5

Choring and drawing out manure. Brock and I over to {name?} in Evening. Quite a fall of snow in night cold north wind and blustry at times

Thursday, 6

Done chores and finished drawing out manure. Then went back to bush and cut three logs. Beautiful bright day milder.

Friday, 7

Da done chores. Brock to Moorefield with 7 pigs. At lunch in afternoon cutting logs. Brock took mother to nie train. She gone to Guelph. Beauiliful bright day.

Saturday, 8

Done chores and chopping. Back ro bush and put on a load of logs. Brock took them to town and brought home the lumber. Da spilled ashes then went to bed about five. Feeling very misreable. Nellie telephoned to say mother was sick with the cold. Brock to town at night. Cold last wind. Started to chain again about twelve o'clock.

Very stormy morning but milder. A great quantity of snow fell. Wind from the west after dinner. Da some better.

March MONDAY, 10X

Done chores and cleaning hen pens in afternoon. Brock to town in forenoon for 1/2 ton of fertilizer. Letter forn Nellie saying mother is improving. Soft snow at time. mild.

TUESDAY, 11

Done chores and chopping in forenoon. Brock & I to town in forenoon. Fine afternoon but very stormy in morning for a time. Colder at night.

WEDNESDAY, 12

Done chores and drawing up the wood from back bush. Sadie .neer in P.M. for an hour. Mr. Isaac Hilborn here in Evening to inquie about the sick. Brockto town for mail. Mother improving. Fine bright day mild. Snow going very quickly.

March THURSDAY, 13

Choring and drawing up wood. I down to Jack's for an hour. Fune day but cold N.E wind. Mother had to go back to bed again.

FRIDAY, 14

Done chores and chopping in aftenoon. Da took another weak spell and had to go to bed. I neer to {name or place?}to phone how mother as. She a litle better. Very strong and cold east wind but clear & bright.

SATURDAY, 15

Brock done chores, cleaned pens and sifted ashes. Da in bed until noon and in house all day. Brock & I to town at night. East wind with rain at times, Freezing.

SUNDAY, 16

Jack Walker up in morning. Da out to barn a couple times. heavy rain in forenoon from east. Very foggy and dull all P.M. Ray down with message saying that mother would be home in morning.

March MONDAY, 17

Done chores. Brock and I took buggy and went to meet mother. She came home from Guelph. Etta came with her. She still quite miserable and weak. Da took another weak spell about supper time. Very foggy day. rained hard at night.

TUESDAY, 18

Brock done chores and down with cream can for Dr, in afternoon. Dr, Ferrier came out about nine o' clock. Da has kidney trouble and put mother to bed. She very much run down. Soft snow in morning and rather dull.

Brock dne chores and to town for medicine in forenoon Lovely bright day and warm.

March THURSDAY, 20

Doing chores Brock chopping and Da trimming spruce. Feeling some better. Brock to meet Clara at six train. Beautiful bright day.

FRIDAY, 21

Doing chores and Da trimming a few spruce. Dr. Ferrier here in forenoon. Brock to concert at night. Rather dull morning but finer in afternoon.

SUNDAY, 23

Mr & Mrs. {Thompson or Tompson} here. Brock to church at night. Mr. Mc Isaac here in evening Fine bright day.

March MONDAY, 24

choring. Brock took Mr. and Mrs. Thompson to town this afternoon. Beautiful bright warm day. Dr. Ferrier called this morning and found mother much better. She got up to-day.

TUESDAY, 25

Choring. Brock took clara to morning train then down to Boyd's with a pig. At {short form of name?} Riddals sale in afternoon. Da trimming spruce Fine warm day. Looking a little lik rain in afternoon.

WEDNESDAY, 26

Done chores and took Molly to Ritches. Mr. Ritch {short form of borrowed or bought?} her $160. in forenoon Then cleaning up seed barley for Frank Short in a Went back to bush in afternoon and cut up some taps and brought up the saw. Fine warm day. Heard Mr. Craig died on train on his way west.

March THURSDAY, 27

Done chores and Brock chopping some in forenoon. Da sifted ashes. Cleaned up seed barley for Frank Short in afternoon. Dull and cold. Wind very high towards evening.

Brock done chores and took barley to station for Frank Short in Forenoon. Choring in afternoon Fine not as windy and warmer I up to Ray's in Evening.

Choring and rock choping im afternoon. Mrs. Henry Hilborn here for a while in afternoon.

Done Chores. Brock led mary to moorefield and Da took calf in the buugy. Choring and Brock to Jack Boyd's in afternoon with pig. Smoky and dull warm.

SATURDAY,5

Done chores and Brock chopping in forenoon. Hithced up Lion an put put away sleighs & Drew manure off drain in afternoon We to town at night. Put meat in pickle, Fine & very warm.

Brock to church at night. Quite a heavy shower in morning but turned out a nice day.

April MONDAY, 7X

Done chores and Brock chopping. Cutting up some trees in old archard on other place in afternoon. Fine morning but dull after dinner and a shower about five. A little thunder and lightning.

TUESDAY, 8

Done chores and cleaned up a bin of seed oats in aftrnoon. Da not as well again this evening. Dull. Quite a shower in afternoon Thunder and lightning

Choringand chopping in forenoon. Brock & I to town in afternoon. Horse show postponed. Uncle Rich {symbol} and Aunt Emma here in afternoon. Very rainy dull morning, Warm and bright for a time in afternoon but turned dull again.

Done chores and cleaning up seed wheat and barley in afternoon. Rained in the night Dull day but mild.

Done chores and sawing up wood in old orchard and burning bush. Ma down to jack Walkerin afternoon to see Mrs. Jim Murphy. Beautiful warm bright day.

Done chores and chopping in forenoon.{Helping?} take off the kitchen paper in afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Lowes came about five o' clock and stayed for tea. Brock & I down to concert at night "Valley Farm" Cold and dull. Snow & a little rain Towards evening.

Done chores and cleaning up barley. Rained very hard in morning and strong east wind. Dull in afternoon.

April THURSDAY, 17

Done chores. Brock chopped 12 bags. Da feeling miserable. We papered Kitchen. Dull and raining at times.

Choring all day. Uncle Willie came up for the day. Brock took him to evening train. Lovely bright day.

SATURDAY, 19

Brock took down cream can and eggcase. Cutting up some treea in low rchard and then some {fence?}. Brock and I to town at night Fine day.

Da down to Jack Walkers in P.M. Brock to church at night. Rainy morning but bright afternoon.

Done chores building fence on other place. Beautiful warm day.

Done chores and Da finished fence Brock down to help {first name} Walker {lugg?} wood. Went about eleven. To town at night to see "Hearts of The World" Rather dull started to rain about six o'clock.

April THURSDAY, 24

Done chores. Brock washing and greasing harness. Da choring. Turned much colder in night cold north wind and flurriesof snow all day.

FRIDAY, 25

Robt + Brock choring. Brock chopped ten bags of grain forenoon. Brock greased his harness afternoon and took Olive to evening train to go to Elora for a few days. Snowing all day and much worse at night real cold

Men choring. Very cold + Stormy getting finer Brock started To draw out manure. drawing all sfternoon gone down town at night

Beautiful forenoon Mr. + Mrrs Pollack & Becca here To get Olive to go to Church much duller in the aft Brock gone to church Eve.

April MONDAY, 28

Robt not feeling very good forenoon. After the chores were done Brock chopped grain till noon then ,, some more afternoon and Set up the wire fence in the little {illegible} and piled up the threshing wood dull in the morning but brighted up through the day

Robt + Brock choring and gone back to build fence round the piece of new land by the bush forenoon. Threw out road fence on other place in aft. I came home this morning mr. Henderson caled in P.M. beautiful day

Done Chores amd building at the road fence. Started down at Mc Ewings line. Fine and bright but strong east wind and looking like rain at night.

May THURADAY, 1

Done chores and chopping in morning. Brock & I to town in afternoon. Rainy morning but cleared up in afternoon.

FRIDAY, 2

Choring round barn all day. Rainy in mornng Dull & cold.

SATURDAY, 3

Done chores and working at road fence. Threw out some more but had to stop about three o'clock. It came on a heavy rain and rained hard all evening.

SUNDAY, 4

Dull forenoon. Thunder storm about noon and rained very hard in afternoon. Foggy at night.

May MONDAY, 5

Done chores and working at road fence on fornt of other place. Dull morning but turned out nice and bright.

TUESDAY, 6

Done chores and finished road fence in forenoon. Then fixing fence on other place and taking off barb wire. I up to Harry's in aft evening mr. Henderson called with a chair for mother from Da. She 56 yrs old. Fine but very high wind all day

WEDNESDAY, 7

Done chores. Brock to town in morning to get horses shod. Da fixing some fenceback of barn. Fixing fence on other place in afternoon. Brock + I to town at night Fine but a little breezy. Took off stormwindows in evening.

May THURSDAY,8

Done chores and digging out a plugged drain on other place in forenoon. Fixing line fence beleive Jack + us and fence round pasture. Mr. Henderson and a Mr. Carrigan Callede.. Fine but very dull and a little cool.

V FRIDAY, 9 X

Done chores and chopping in forenoon. Startedto work on land for the first. Cultivating in afternoon back by maple tree. Brock Lion and Dan. Rather bright in morning and breezy but dull and east wind in afternoon.

SATURDAY, 10

Done chores. Cleaning pens and chopping and mincing seed. Brock to town at night Rainy day.

SUNDAY, 11

Raining at times all day. East wind.

May MONDAY, 12

Done chores. Da pickig up brush in orchard and clipping up spruce trees. Brock to Mc Isaacs with a heifer in forenoon. Cultivating back by maple tree also sowed and harrowd it to wheat. Dull in morning and a little misty but brightened up after dinner. fine night.

TUESDAY, 13

Done chores and cultivated rape ground on other place in forenoon. Then harrowed and sowed it in afternoon 7 ac. Mrs. Bill Anderson here for dinner and tea. Beatiful warm day.

WEDNESDAY, 14

Done chores. Then cultiating in field next to windmilln forenoon. Sowd and harrowed it in afternoon. Fine and very warm.

May THURSDAY, 15

Done chores and cultivate sod next Jack's lie fence in forenoon. Sowed and harrowed it in afternoon. Della here for duck eggs. A little showery early in morning. Cleared and quite sultry. Looking like rain.

FRIDAY, 16

Done chores. Then Da cultivated sod for corn in forenoon. Brock went to cultivate back by Ray's line fence buthad to stop about eleven as it came on a shower. Da cultivated little patch on other place and garden patches in afternoon. Brock cultivating on 4 ac on other place. Dull all day and a heavy mist a rain at times. Rained steady for a couple of hours in evening.

SATURDAY, 17

Doing chores then drew out flax straw and burned it in forenoon. Brock chopping in afternoon and Da moving potatoes root house. Bock + I to town at night Raining at times

Finished ploughing corner field in forenoon. Cultivating turnip ground in afternoon. We to town at night. Serald here for dinner. A little cooler but looking like rain at times.

Brock to church at night. Heavy rain about noons. Thunder & lightening.

Cultivating and rolling corn ground in forenoon. Brock got foshes drill and sowed it in afternoon. Harrowed it. Very hot sullry day. A little thunder shower about six.

Cultivating and harrowing rest of corn field. Brock chopped a little. He and I to town at night. Fine and warm.

Ploughing rape ground on other place. Mr. John Templeton brought me home this morning and stayed for dinner. Very hot and calm. Had to dip water for young cattle at low well. Mrs. Jas Mc Ewing died this morning.

Monday, 11 Cutting grain on other place. Do shocking. Joe Kaplan here for 4 bags of potatoes @ 1.75. Fine and warm.

Tuesday, 12 Finished cutting on other place at noon. Then started in field next bruh and Jack's line fence in afternoon. Fine and breezy. Stanley Ellis's barn burned. Windmill set it on fire.

Wednesday, 13 Finished cutting down by Jack's line fence in forenoon. Then started back of maple tree in afternoon. Brock & I to town at night. Emerson Walker's barn burned. Gasoline engine set it on fire. Fine but very windy.

Thursday, 21 Went back to cut the wheat but it came on rain about nine so had to stop. Rained very hard most of forenoon. Tried cutting again after dinner but came on rain. Brock to town at night. I Took Lillian to morning train.

Friday, 22 Finished ploughing strip for rape and cut the rest of wheat in forenoon. Sowed rape after dinner and got in three loads of grains. Mother up to Harry's in afternoon. Fine drying day.

Saturday, 23 Drawing in all day from other place barley and oats. Brock & I to town at night. Fine but a little cloudy.

Sunday, 24 Brock to church at night. Cloudy in morning but a fine day.

Finished drawing in from other pace about ten then drawing barley from back of barn and mixed grain. Uncle Will come on night train. Quite showery in morning. Fine and windy in afternoon. Shower in evening & cloudy.

Drawing in all day from back at Roy's line fence. Misting at times in forenoon. High wind in afternoon. Dr. Mc Gregor here.

Drew in five loads in morning then fixing gaps & chopping. Making a ladder in afternoon. Quite heavy showers at times. Too wet to draw in.

Wednesday, 17

Da done chores. Brock & I to town in morning to send geese to Guffors and Hunters. Brock to Arthur in afternoon with 15 geese and 7 chickens. Got 33 per lb. Fine but very sharp.
